Ugh to be honest, BMW engines are a bittersweet feature. They boost the shit out of a low-rpm focused engine, but they do have a lot of features and have great power and efficiency. Might as well get a diesel though. Good for a quiet luxury yacht though.

I can't remember everything and don't care that much to remember the Tesla. At least I remembered it was an electric car, somewhat. In the end its fluff, nuff said.

So this is Tada san's next project after 86. There are a couple of terms flying around on this vehicle, and some possibilities are:

1. Source a BMW I6 turbo engine (N55/N54) and enlarge the 86 body to fit in the engine and call it a day (next Supra?). This is just the un-imaginative way.
2. Do a 918-ish replica: get a I4 turbo mounted it transversely at the back and put electric drives at the front and get a combined 300+ hp car with AWD. Isn't this the direction where the next NSX is heading?
3. Other options?

Well, we can just wait and see what they can do.

Good point. I wouldn't have thought of it that way. As in, does Toyota/BMW want to try to compete with the NSX? Hmm...

you cant warm up to trying to achieve a the best lap times possible? if someone hadn't focused on using back pressure to create more power and efficiency we would still be in the stone ages with engines.

Wait.... what are you talking about? That's totally a different story. I'm not talking about lap times.

Electric motors aren't fluff. They provide competitive power to weigh ratios with many times the efficiency of an ICE. With a little more weight, manufacturers can make a car that makes more power and uses less fuel. They also have fantastic response. If you ever get a chance to drive one built for sporty intentions, many EVs just like hybrids are economy minded, jump on it. The Tesla Roadster will push you back in your seat like nothing else.

In racing Hybrids have been able to beat the laptimes of similar ICE only cars despite being heavier.

I wonder if Toyota not having introduced any new motors in a while is working on one with this BMW partnership?

Just imagine Yamaha getting a hold of a joint ventured BMW/Toyota motor (a new I6, another V8, turbo 4?)

All Supras had Inline-6 engines. I thought that was kind of its trademark. So if it is going to be a Supra, I think it should have an inline-6.

But yeah, that concept/fan art looks pretty bad. The last Supra was beautiful due to its simplicity and curviness. I would like to see it look more like the old one or the Lexus LFA.

Can't find this video yet, but you reminded that there's an electric car (BMW ) with some amazing performance that was posted somewhere in off-topic section. That car was impressive for an electric car, but iirc it wasn't street legal.

And maybe I'll test drive a Tesla soon. I just won't be on the edge of my seat for it.

So throw in the engine from the 1 series and have yamaha/toyota work some magic? Price it in the 35-45k range and we may have a winner.(I know keep dreaming)

I have confidence that they will make it way better looking with maybe some lines from the z4 and gt86. The speculation and teasers for this is going to be pretty interesting I think.
