So after installing mine, love it. Only problem I'm having is now I have nothing stopping me from going into reverse. The reverse lockout is essentially pointless. So all the way left and up is now reverse and you can go into it without using the lockout. Anyone else have this issue or if it's suppose to happen. Why?

You didn't adjust the hardstop properly. It's flopping too far to the left.

This might sound stupid but what's the hard stop?.. Still sort of new to the car scene

Take it back apart and play with the reverse lockout so you can see what's happening underneath. I promise you'll slap your forehead as soon as you look at it.

Loosen the four mounting bolts just enough to wiggle the stop.

Put it in first.

Wiggle the gearshift left & right until you get a feel for right in the middle.

Adjust the stop so it's touching the foot of the lockout in first.

Do the same thing in second.

When you're satisfied you have it right, tighten down the plate.

Pro tips:
It helps to play with the tightness of the bolts a little so there's some resistance when adjusting the hardstop.

Don't overtorque. It doesn't take much.

I miss not having a R lockout, I think it was invented for stupid people.

This is my new short shifter. I love it and it loves me... It's design is similar to the TRD goal of putting the movement of the linkage further away from the pivot point of the shifter itself. This install took all of an hour (without install of rear shift fork bushing, included) cause I was not in a hurry. All done from sitting in my comfy drivers seat. Price point is much lower in person in Addison TX. Than it is listed on web site.

Sorry to bump, but despite treadlocker the damn bolt came undone for the 3rd time. I'm thinking I'm just gonna get the Perrin shifter bushing and call it a day. >:S

Any one know if the shifter rattle is still there after installing the TRD quickshifer? My car has the notorious rattle from the shifter

I've never had any rattling with mine. I know people have had rattling from the Kartboy though

Don't know if there is a rattle but there are dozens of reports of the TRD ones falling apart on here. Think I would rather live with the rattle.

I think those were due to installation error. One of the installation steps is very error prone as described in the poll I linked above.

After I installed my STI shortened lever I had occasional light rattling but hardly ever. Then I installed the TRD bracket and it is still rare. Only ever happens in midrange RPM and more than 50% throttle if I'm lucky. But I heard this happens even with everything stock (http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98475). And I can instantly silence it when I lightly touch my palm to the shift knob.

Basically, the TRD shifter hasn't made anything worse.
