Fuel economy depends on the wheels you get.
My Enkei 18" are lighter then the stock 17" wheels. I feel a difference in acceleration so with normal driving it shouldn't make any diffrence, it should be theoretically be a lower value then stock, but stock are the eco-drive prius sport tires so it evens out.
For best fuel-economy take the stock tires combined with 17" Enkei RPF1.
Extremely light and cheap.

17 is a little to small in my opinion, i think it's best for track (at least that's what i read) but i'm not tracking so 18 for me it is
What setups are you all rocking?

Summer: Enkei PF01 18" with Yokohama Advan Sports V105 (225-40-18)
The car takes corners in angles, not in curves

Winter: The stock 17" plastidipped with Yokohama W-drive's (225-55-17)
Comfy yet sporty and has no problems with Belgian snowdays

Nice! Good to know for them winters, i'm gonna have to start looking into those!
For summer tires i was thinking of Nankang Ultra Sport NS2... I wanted to go for Yokohama S.Drives, but they don't seem to sell them in 235/40/18 (or at least not in Belgium)! So might try the nankang's, they're not that expensive and i've heard some good things about them

Hey guys,
i've been working on Summer Festival in Antwerp these last 2 days and i've seen 2 white 86's, both modded!
One had the complete TRD body kit on it, looked lowered and was on black 18" i think (looked something like 3SDM 0.01). Freakishly loud too! (i talked to the guy a little and understood he had an injen CAI & something with the exhaust i think).
And then another one passed by me twice, just white 86 with TOM's tail lights and license plate 1-FTU-xxx !
Anyone from here?

Grtz

1-1.5L extra ... blame it on the tyres

Hello projectXTR.

I'm running stick EagleF1Asymmetric's in 225/35/18. Very sticky tyre both dry and in the wet. Obviously they're not really 'low rolling resistance' like the stock Michelin's are. What I do know, when I have a roundabout which I take at 50-55 with the Michelins, I take that same roundabout at 70 with the Goodyears. Personal taste wise, the 225/35's have reinforced sides, so those tyres are really very ridgid in turns, disadvantage ... don't expect comfort. But they're absolutely not loud.

Have a Celica as well where I had those cheaper tyres on (think they were Hankook), I didn't like them at all wet grip was crap those days (we're talking something like 4-5 y ago). I guess that meanwhile really 'bad' tyres you will not find anymore, except perhaps for the really cheap Chinese stuff (style Nankang and such).

Grtz

Are you still able to break the grip when you want to taking a roundabout or sharp turn?

If you are looking for S.Drives then look also for the Advan Sports, they are 10€ cheaper per tyre and performance-wise they should be the same or better. According to the Yokohama site they are available in 235/40/18. They are also easier to order them.

I have my doubts about the Nankangs but I don't have personal experience with them.
Friends of my told me that they were good at dry grip but really sucked in the wet, the good thing about those is that they sell them in weird exotic seizes for stretched tires.
