Yes yes, we all know, they're mechanically the same, they're all being built at subaru, using subaru parts, on a newly designed chassis by subaru. The point I'm trying to make here is that if any differences are spied between this one and the one from the nurburgring, it will help paint a better picture of the subtle differences between the Subaru sheet metal and the toyota/scion one. The one on the ring has been ID'd both by Toyota of Europe and from the FT86 emblem within the fender vents as being the Toyota model. We didn't see the front end of this one, and the quality of the photo is poor, combined with the camouflage there is little chance of spotting any differences if they exist at all. Also, get used to explaining it, there is going to continue to be new people getting on these boards that are either just now, or soon to be hearing about these cars. Just because you two have combed through every thread on the boards doesn't mean that the rest of us have. You don't want to drive off the potential future supporters of this vehicle and forum now do you? |

That would be fine. It would be a rarer car, and we wouldnt have to hear the same shit over and over again

However as it stands now, it would be silly for Subaru to make a design and then Toyota make one and stick with it while the car is still being developed.

2.) Is there any reason to believe the 86 emblem wouldn't also be on the Subaru model? (it's no secret that it's a joint project "inspired" by the AE86) Quote:
Just sayin', be patient until we see under all that swirl camo. |

I think I'm on board again. Look at the quarter panel and fenders you can actually see the design of the car, and the aggressive look. It's is said this is Subaru's variant, since it had Subaru distributor plates.
One thing.. I have to cry about is the possible height of the car. doesn't look under 50" looks as high as the Genesis or new Mustang. ![]()

If the height means I can comfortably sit in the car with my helmet on with headroom to spare, I'm all for the extra height.

6'2" here and I'll be using the car frequently with a helmet as well, but I'm not prepared to sacrifice the possible 48-49" target for this car. Just lean the seat back a little and not try to kiss the steering wheel so much or get custom bracket made.

From the looks of it it seems to be around the same height as the caymen in from of it... at least from the point of view in that camera shot

You know how they position the seat in the cockpit is more important than how "tall" the car is for head room.
Just because a car is 60 inches off the ground doesn't mean it has excellent head room. It just means its 60 inches from the road to the top of the roofline. Lowering the car's height doesn't help your head fit better, it just makes you have to bend more to get in. As evidenced in the AE86 and my friend who is 6'6". He fit better in his AE86 than he did in his 240sx and his old Civic, and Eclipse GSX. |

Using simple drawing skills, division, and arithmetic, a person can figure out the height of the car is less than 50". It's not that difficult.

Also if someone wanted to, they could take a picture that has the FR-S' passenger visible in relation to the top of the car while riding in it (like, any clear shot), and then figure out his exact height using the very end of the test run video, since he's the only one you see stand completely up after getting out of the car. Would help you estimate a person's height and the amount of head room...to an extent...you can always gangsta lean. Last edited by OldSkoolToys; 05-23-2011 at 04:59 PM. |
