Ken, you should get an ONR kit.
http://www.optimumcarcare.com/onrwns.php That's how I always wash unless I decide to wash at work to use the pressure washer when I have crazy bugs. You'll need a bucket with grit guard though. I believe my friend sells the ONR kit at $60 and comes with everything you need.

Depending on your situation it's easier too. Don't need a pressure washer or a hose. It's mainly meant as a "maintenance wash" though. The guys that live in the city don't really have to deal with this, but living in the country I have bugs on the car every day. The acid in the bugs will eat through the O-C, as well as the clear, so you need to get bugs off ASAP. I actually often bring my car into the shop and pressure wash + insect remover my bumper. For example, I could wash my car at a car show instead of just spraying quick detailler. I'll see about making a video. A warning though, I wouldn't use the ONR without at least having some decent wax on the car. The reason it works is because of the O-C.

Long answer: I quote Dr. G. (owner/founder) of Optimum.... "From the keyboard of David Ghodoussi, when asked to describe ONR VS soap. good information to know and share with your customers. Soap is a blend of surfactants that are designed to emulsify (dissolve) oils into water. There is nothing in soap to help with dirt removal. Foam is a by product of soap and it is caused by entrapment of air in soap and water. People perceive foam to create lubricity and correlate it to concentration and cleaning ability of soap. In fact, manufacturers add foamers to increase foam to capitalize on these misconceptions. No Rinse is based on reactive polymers that have the ability to bond to surfaces as well as dirt or oily particles. These polymers have much greater lubricity than soap and form a film around the particles as well as paint to protect from marring. The concentration of these polymers is very high which is why only 1 oz. per wash is needed. In fact, when people use 3-4 oz., they complain about the excess lubricity and streaking! If anyone washes half their car with no rinse and the other half with soap, over time, they will see marring on the soap side only! That is why many add no rinse to their soap bucket before washing which works well. However, because of the nature of these reactive polymers,in concentrated form, they react with soap and foaming agents to form a gel (you can try this by mixing soap concentrate with no rinse). That is why we can not add foaming agents to no rinse! The Water softening ability of ONR comes from bonding and removing minerals from water which takes place by the polymers in No Rinse in the same way as it bonds to dirt or other surfaces. The polymers remove minerals from water by bonding and trapping them similar to how they remove dirt particles and drop them down to the bottom of solution. There is nothing in soap that has that ability hence dirt or contaminants float in the solution. The reactivity of the polymers come from having both negatively charged and positively charged groups in the polymer which gives it a zwitterionic character. It can therefore bond with any particle whether they are anionic or cationic in nature. With the new no rinse wash and wax, we have further increased the lubricity, gloss, and protection. There is no product out there that can match the performance of these products."

Sorry, I can't let that go...
Dr. G's statement is not technically correct either. None of the "regular" car wash products contain soap, they use detergents - it is not the same thing. He also states that there is nothing in them that removes dirt, which is also incorrect and a ridiculous statement. How else would we have been able to clean our cars (or ourselves) for the last 100+ years? </rant> Don't get me wrong, I'm not refuting the effectiveness of ONR. It may be the greatest product ever, I haven't tried it. |

What I meant is that us to the water heading you're able to dry it up quick and easy.
I remember my first ONR. I washed the car twice because I didn't dry right away lol. And it begins guys... I have a vibration in the car this morning

Can you hold onto mine until the next MCO lapping day? I've got plans for Friday night as usual. Also, I'll be at Calabogie tomorrow with the ASE guys, so I'll likely be tired.
