So are they considering replacement or is it all customer pay at this point? I work at a Nissan dealer and we just got an engine covered under warranty that only had 3 oil changes in 38k miles, i would think that neglect would be more of a reason to not cover something than using it how its marketed.

What's the service interval. Aren't some new engines 10k with the normal service interval thats not under severe use.

nissan recommends an oil change every 3750 miles, this was on a factory turbo DI car also (Juke).

Currently it's still a customer pay issue as far as SoA is concerned.

We're trying to get in direct contact with the rep that authorized the teardown.

Hopefully they step up and take care of this, the negative publicity is going to cost them much more than repairing your car.

Does anybody know if any auto trans cars are suffering from this or is it just manuals?

You know what is funny about this. My wife and I are leasing a Juke (through Nissan's employee lease program) and Nissan told us to follow service option 2 which is about 7500 miles if I remember correctly. Nissan also pays for the maintenance service so I assume it is cost saving technique.

or is that a different part all together?

The MS3 motor uses a different type of DI than the others....for some reason. You can look at the pistures of our DI's and of those in the links and see they are not similar.

Welcome to the fray. :happy0180:
Thanks, but if a company advertises that way they sell can be used in a certain way *cough* track use *cough* wouldn't that be considered the correct use? Is there anything that can be said here about false advertising then? Or maybe this is simply a localized issue with the warranty claim being denied. But in the end its really bad PR on this forum for toyota to deny a warranty claim like that.

Fixed,

Please try to keep up, a large part of this issue is Subaru is not yet acknowledging the issues Toyota has.

This guy saw a peak oil temp of 276F while on track running a completely stock motor.
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=309

Even just normal driving around town without any heavy throttle is producing fairly high temps.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=182

Perrin also documented the power loss that is associated with high oil temps in this car on their blog.
http://blog.perrinperformance.com/pe...-s-oil-cooler/

In my opinion 276F (or really anything above 230F/110C) seems like it is WAY too hot for engine oil to be sitting at. After my oil cooler, I usually sit around 175F and peak around 185F during around town and freeway driving while on the track during 30 minute sessions, I usually average around 215F while peaking to 220F every once in a while.
Dam!!!

I have been having problems with my RX8 lately.
On a day where it went from 100 to 101 degrees, driving in traffic with three people, my temps were reaching 200 to 207. that's with the car lowered to the max.

Those temperatures were extremely high compared to what I have normally experienced.

And now I see much higher oil temps on the FRS/BRz. That is not good.

And all of those Fiat 500s must for driving across the ocean. It makes sense for them not to any to cover tracked cars. It sucks, but it makes sense.

Mike can I ask why you guys still ran this car when you new it was hot? I remember you saying that the car ran hot oil and water temps. If your running it that hard, I'm just curious why you think it's ok not to add cooling to the factory system? I have a oil cooler going on my car any car that see's the kind of session you guys put out should have a upgraded cooling system period. The only way to get away without upgrading, is to run e85 for a cooler running motor.
