@CSG Mike

I am running a set of KWV3's I will be moving to running Nitto NT01s in 225/45/17 for next season.

Should I think about upping the spring rates?

Thanks

Hi mike @CSG Mike, thank you for making this Q&A post.
I have tein flex z coilover with -3 camber front/ -2.5 rear/ 0 toe front, and 0.5 toe rear
Damper: from hard, 4 clicks front/7 clicks rear.
255/40/17 tires, front strut bar, stock sway bar.
Car has amazing grip in daily drive or mountain drive, but is it good enough for high speed track?
Also, how can I increase car rigidness?
Any recommend setting for damper for track?
Thanks

SO im a noob in regards to the track and racing. Ive got an frs and im looking to start some suspension mods. Ill be driving the car stock first to get a feel for it but id like to know what i should be buying in the future.

the car is driven on the streets and will be taken to the track a few times during the summer. I dont care if street driveability is lost. Car will be used for grip and occasional drifting (for fun). My budget isnt the biggest but ill spend a decent amount for quality. Just an idea on my budget id like to spend around 1200-1300 CAD before tax for coils at most.

Any suggestions on what i should aim for?

Read this whole thread along with the RCE/CSG suspension thread and decide if you still think coils in that price range will benefit you after driving the car stock

Unless you know WHY you want to up the rates, you should probably leave them alone.

It's fine for tracking.

A roll cage will increase rigidness.

Well the question is more are the Nitto's in 225 enough grip to warrant increasing spring rates to keep from bottoming out, and riding the bump stops?

Thanks

Unless you're super low, you shouldn't be compressing enough to bottom out the V3, except perhaps over very large on-load berms.

How much of a drop do you run from stock? Anything less than 1.2" or so will be fine.

I'm running about 0.8 to 1" drop.

Thanks for the advice Mike

roll cage will be too much for me,,since i am going to track less than 5 times a years, and its my daily.

Does the under bracing bar or trunk bar helps?

Thanks

Why do you feel that your car is lacking rigidity?

Well, to be honest, I drove the new 2017 model, and I feel that the car is less "loosen" than the 2013-2016 model, it feels like the its more "closed box", and feel more rigid for precise cornering.

With that budget, you will not find a quality coilover suitable for track work. My recommendation would be Racecomp Yellow springs on the OEM struts with camber plates, camber bolts, and if you can fit them in the budget, SPC rear LCAs. I think you'll be very close to your budget with a quality and well performing setup vs. spending that money on a subpar set of coilovers.

Hi guys,
I'm going to buy a BRZ, probably next month. I'm in canada and we don't have the PP, except for the yellow edition, which include the PP.
I'm more interested in the limited, because the yellow edition end up costing much more.
But I'm concerned that maybe I'll regret not having the big brake of the PP.
I do mostly autocross (for which the base brake will be more than enough), but I'll also do a couple of track days per year. 20 minutes sessions.
In my base RSX (not type S), I had to go easy on the brake or they were seriously overheating. It was frustrating, so in the last 2 years I stopped doing track day, and did only AutoX.

Do you think the BRZ with the base brakes can do 20 minutes sessions without having to "manage" the brake all the time.

I'll be running semi-track pads (like the hawk hp+), and sticky tires (rival, rs3...).
I was running Hawk HPS in my RSX.
