Can someone help me determine which tune I should throw on my car (2016 manual)? I just got my OFT Monday. I flashed the v 2.07x stage 1 91 octane tune for the moment.
So, I have 93 available everywhere here. I also just got myself a V1 openflash header (not one of the new V2/3 ones). I would like to know the best tune for now, and the best tune for when I put the header on in a few weeks. I am confused by the following options: 91 vs 93 octane tunes. Should I go 93 if its available here? I see people mentioning no 93 tunes, or just using a 91 anyway? v2.07x vs v3.0x tunes. Should I attempt to get the v3 tunes from Shiv? I emailed Monday morning and still have not received any answers. Stage 2 UEL tunes vs OFH specific tunes. Are these specific tunes only for the v2/3 OFH? Are there any downsides to running this one instead of the generic? Thanks guys, hopefully someone here can help. |

BCB75 -- I think you're a bit confused. There is only one available header from Openflash. On the website, OFH refers to the header only; OFH2 refers to the tablet + the header; OFH3 refers to the tablet + the header + overpipe.
Regardless of whether you get the overpipe or not, here's the deal: If you're running the stock header (ie., not the openflash header and/or overpipe), then you can use the STAGE 1 off-the-shelf tunes from the website. If you've installed a non-Openflash header (with or without a new overpipe), you should use the STAGE 2 off-the-shelf tunes. If you've installed the Openflash header (with or without a new overpipe), you should use the Stage 2OFH tunes (v1.01) shown on the website. In all cases, whether you use 91 or 93oct is entirely up to you; latter are a bit more aggressive, so make sure you're in fact using 93 gas in that case. Most of the discussion in this thread is about the new v3 tunes, which are to the best of my knowledge only relevant for 2017 models (which have a different ECU map). |

bzdont - see this thread for information on OFH v2/3 release
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100751 I picked up an old one that is from before this update was made. It also seems to be around the same time that the OFH specific tunes were created (which I also think may have been created for the v3 with the integrated OP). I figured there might be enough difference that mine would be considered a "generic UEL" at this point. The package with the tablet can be ordered with the OFH2 or OFH3. So just to confirm, a 93 tune will be more aggressive, and the v3 tunes are only for 2017+ cars? EDIT: Actually found a post from Shiv in that thread stating "Same tune regardless of OFH1, OFH2 or OFH3 " so I should be good with that one. |

I’ve never driven the earlier year models but it was immediately obvious with my 17 even during the quick test drive. I still bought the car knowing a uel header and tune would fix it. I got a jdl uel and oft after driving the car stock for a couple months and they definitely fixed the torque dip. So it’s still present on a stock 2017.

The dip on the 2017s has been narrowed but is slightly deeper.

I don’t feel it anymore, that’s for sure. The power builds as the rpms increase now just like it should. Acceleration from 2,500 rpm and up it just builds power and I do not feel an obvious dip where it used to be. Before there was a decent amount of low end torque, and then an obvious dip, then it felt like a mild “vtec” kicking in sort of feeling after the dip was over. Now it’s just smooth.
