I took one apart.

Cut off the top, just above the knob channel.

Made a dowel to spin the lockout knob against my belt sander with a drill, sizing it to the largest die I have, which is an m24 x 1.5.

Luckily, the matching tap drill is close to 7/8", so I drilled the ball (drill press) with a 7/8" forstner bit.

Blah blah...


It's not there yet because I've been struggling with a serviceable way to really tighten the knob to the collar. I think I need to drill a second knob and just ease in the tap a turn at a time until the threads just cut to the depth of the threads on the collar.

It's actually a bit too large for my taste. I'll come up with a shape I like.
