TIL first hand about "ice mode". Tried pedal dance for autox and it's real concerning when the abs goes haywire.

What happened? How is the mode cleared? I've never had the opportunity but I'm curious.

That sucks. I would think that would be more sketchy on an AutoX course with nothing really separating you from people and parked cars then cones.

Luckily I just overshot a tight apex. Basically I hit the brake over some bumps (~60mph) and the abs immediately switched on and wouldn't turn off until I let off the brake completely. I backed off a bit on that run after that so idk if there were any other effects. Turning off the car seemed to make everything normal for the next run.

This felt different than a normal abs event, as it immediately triggered abs as soon as started braking, can't remember if the bumps immediately preceded or was braking through them. Also, the abs pulsed faster but with less force than usual.

This was my first, and possibly last run with pedal dance.

It really wasn't all that bad. The car still slowed, and there's an amount of runoff available. Still made the turn even, just blew the apex. I'd say it was about 2/3 to 3/4 of full braking force.

I have also found the load limit for the EPS as well, earlier in the season. The fabled EPS cut is real. Also happens when going over bumps while doing steering/braking. That's really scary in tight quarters because it can rip the wheel out of your hands if you aren't expecting it.

It's been a long time since I've read about pedal dance and pedal danced myself but I thought pd turned off ice mode.
Obviously not.

i just barely bumped against the EPS limit doing snow donuts a few times.

it was enough that i stopped and got out of the car to make sure that there wasn't something stuck in the front knuckles limiting the steering angle all of a sudden. after the second time, i realized i was hitting a vehicle system limitation, not a mechanical stop, and started taking it easier. but definitely disconcerting!

Scary as hell. I have never been able to make pedal dance work. Just random sudden total lack of brakes even with the pedal to the floor.
