Toyota also started out as a textile company. They still dive deep into those roots. Example. They own one of only two carbon fiber weaving machines. NASA owns the other one.
I believe that Toyota holds under 10% of the shares so not sure that they have the "most" and certainly not enough to call them Toyota.

Now I'm learning some cool, actual concepts from Toyota.

The FXV-II and the GTV look like they were the precursors for the SC and MKIV Supra platform.

Toyota has a 16.48% stake in FHI which makes them the largest share of FHI owned by a single entity.

Japan had a Scion equivalent called WiLL, which was a collaboration with various other Japanese companies to offer products to the youth. The WiLL vehicles were produced by Toyota; the most notable of which (from a performance standpoint) is the WiLL VS. One of its engine choices was the 2ZZ-GE, which also powered the last-gen Celica GT-S and SS-II.

I wonder why Toyota never brought it here as a Scion. It would have been a hit and it looks far better than the Matrix XRS or Vibe GT.

For those who are confused as to who owns what, here is a map of Toyota activities.
Subaru (or Fuji Heavy Industries) is considered a small independent.
