You can pull them out with pliers, just be very careful or you can get replacements.

They're plastic, also note that the cap is plastic and can't be powder coated. Its easier to tape off around the bolts just paint the centers if you want to leave the lip polished.

Ah shit. Center can't be powdercoated, huh? I had a pretty particular color scheme in mind.
