while i will not take anything away from this guy who is a badass and someone to look up to as far as his resolve, strength and determination. However the strength required to publicly announce to the world that you're going to have a sex change requires a similar amount of strength, thick skin, resolve and determination. hell some of the comments on this thread is exactly the kind of thing she's going to have to go through and what most trans people go through.

if anyone wants the true trans experience, look at the comment section to any story about caitlyn, read through some of the completely hateful, vile and downright offensive comments being made. Then imagine if those were the things being said to you, on a daily basis, and all you want is to be able to be you, but being you attracts those comments which makes you feel even worse about your situation.

nobody deserves that, not you, not I, and not them.

Understood, however it was her choice to publicly announce to the world the sex change, it was his duty to server and protect our country. Doesn't seem like a fair trade off.

And yes I understand being famous and all there may have been no way to hide the sex change if she didn't want to announce it but c'mon, it's as much a publicity stunt as it is fixing her life..

actually, he made a choice as well, its not like he was thrust into service via the draft or the fact we were invaded and he was defending his land.

I will say I HATE that the kardashians are even a thing, i would be much happier if she wasn't associated with them and still came out as trans because they need a public voice to help educate the world and hopefully make people more understanding of pre/mid/post trans people (and i know this is the wrong term to use).

I agree... the kardashians are a joke... she got famous for banging ray jay on tape and then marrying kanye and now each and every one of them has million dollar tv shows and do nothing contributional to the country what so ever... except for the random donations im sure are out there somewhere to some odd charity here and there for tax purposes only.

Your surroundings have a lot to do with how your brain is wired. Also, it's ironic you say he/she must receive a lot of criticism when the media has done nothing but praise and support he/she's decision. Generally the media caters to what the "social norm" is in order to gain ratings. If you say ridiculing and hating on transgender is the social norm, then why so much praise?

you didn't go look at the comment section did you, however i will say, the media in no way should be paying this story any attention. instead the focus should be on the stuff that actually matter in the world.

A lot of pointless hate and ignorance in this thread. All you guys posting pictures of Noah Galloway (the Army vet) saying he was the runner up are just reposting false hate propaganda from twitter. Noah Galloway was not the runner up, in fact there was never mention of a runner up.

I happened to have worked with two transgender people during my time in the military and I can attest that it is not something anyone would "chose to do". They arent cross dressers who like throwing on a dress and feeling pretty, they are people who's body does not match their identity. Transgender people are born not only believing in their heart that they are in the wrong body; but often medical science can back up their belief.

I don't believe Caitlyn deserves the attention that she is getting any more or any less then others. But if her story can help other transgender people to accept who they are despite the vile you see online (much like on here) then so be it. TV is crap now anyway.
