Just found this reply…. sorry for delay.
I used the factory rims. While less convenient, it's what I am willing to invest for now. When the factory tires are due for replacement, I might consider summer/winter rims. Be sure to use a shop that's careful with the factory rims to keep them mint. I had to pull mine after re-mounting summers to clean up the goo left from wheel balancing weights inside the rim.

i survived the past winter with my summer michelin pilot super sport tires. i did not drive in more than 1 inch of snow on the ground. even with 1 inch or less. i still skidded on turns.
when i had my all season tires on last winter, i was able to drive in a few inches on the ground, still skidding. i once got stuck going up a small hill. poor car cannot move in the snow going uphill. |
