Don't get me wrong, I'm not gonna be unreasonable. Maybe there's another 5 hp that they left on the table that can be freed up with some more unapologetic tuning, but I doubt the 5 hp they gifted for 2017+ was all there was to get from those changes.

It is however a 2L na engine and there is only so much you are going to get out of it no matter how you tune and what you bolt on anyway.

I think the subaru community is used to I/H/E tuning numbers that seem magical, but the devil in the detail is that a turbo is far more flexible in output than a naturally aspirated motor. I certainly don't know many people that were able to take any Subaru H4 and add more than 20whp if it started and stays naturally aspirated. |

As you said the engines for the twins are pretty much already built as much as you can reasonably expect. Changing an existing CAI or header for a slightly different CAI or header is not going to gain you anything really. Everybody thinks there must be some magic part that will substantially change the power but in reality all it does is convince them that they did something so it must be better.

Agreed. I don't want to go FI on the car, and E85 is simply not readily available where I live, so I'm going to look for all the help I can get on the NA side. Getting anywhere close to 200whp is an unlikely goal, but if I can get it there through some mods and tuning, or very close, I'd be quite happy.

On public roads the only thing this car needs is torque. Above 5000 the car moves pretty well. I would give up HP for torque for DD. I only notice it when I switch cars because my other cars have way more torque.
