Airsoft v. Paintball

IMHO, airsoft is more suitable indoors at closer ranges (CQB) as the shorter engagement distance enables more realistic scenarios. outside in the field, airsoft rounds are susceptible to wind drift, and don't have much range. indoors, you can pretty much hit what you see, unlike outdoors when someone just laughs at you trying to lob rounds when they're out of effective range.

paintballs still hit hard at longer outdoor ranges and i think it's better than airsoft for field play. paintball used to be the original milsim until airsoft came on the scene.

This is all true, and I agree with it. Although, I would say that paintball is not necessarily limited by playing inside - because if it is only used for paintball, I wouldn't care if the walls were marked.

Then again, paintball just seems like an outside game

i'd rather get shot by an airsoft BB at indoor distances than a paintball. that's the main reason. paintballs at close range can leave a damn painful bruise and welt, vs a smaller bloody welt from a BB.

by 'indoor', i'm referring more to typical rooms and buildings etc, vs. an indoor field with longer distances (like indoor paintball fields)

i agree. airsofters sometimes tend to be a bit more careless tactically simply because the BB's don't hurt as much. that's why airsoft is more suited to CQB distances because it still hurts.

We played, in not as elaborate as the air soft vid but close, with paintball

I picked airsoft, more over, GBB airsoft. I own airsoft versions of all my actual weapons. I use airsoft as a cheaper alternative to practice weapon manipulation, force on force training etc. The realism of a full metal gas blow back is unmatched by any paintball gun.

Again true. But I have never gotten hurt from a paintball, even at close range. I don't understand why people say it hurts so much

Yeah no, airsoft doesn't hurt at all with a full kit, and has the realism. I am partial to the CQB over the long distance, because if I wanted to practice long distance, I would go to an actual range
