For most cases, it's part of the PDI.

BTW, Vacaville didn't drill the front bumper -- they didn't even ask about it, just left the holder in the trunk. |

True.
But again, I don't markup, and I don't let just any window shopper test drive. I myself have only spent about 30 seconds in a moving FR-S as it was being brought to the third floor of my lot to be PDI'd. Today I spoke with a few people whom I've placed on my FR-S waitlist, and I've been told of dealerships whoring out their FR-S inventory to every ricer sales rep and tech before selling it to a customer, then markups in the thousands, adding their choice of leather then charging extra and we've all seen the vids on YouTube of people doing burnouts and drifting customers' pre-ordered FR-S's. My FR-S's are well cared-for as a reward for my paying customers. These are the jewels of my dealership. No "options" are added, and my FR-S's are priced only according to Scion Pure Pricing. PM me your 1st and 2nd desired color/transmission preference and I'll provide my contact information. |

If you're worried about your bumper just TALK to your dealer. Bring the plate holder with you. As long as you have an alternative already. They'll help you out. Having a front plate is legally required so they are just doing some CYA. As long as you leave the lot with something mounted up front. Their job is done. I'm bringing my Grimmspeed mounting kit with me when the car gets in so they can install it and will have done their part they are legally required to do.
Also the black AT at one Toyota in Oakland is gone already. I knew it wouldn't last long. I'm willing to bet Josh's cars won't last long either. |

Looks like the black one is still available. It was listed on Craigslist 3 times today, by two different sales guys. Not exactly the most professional of ways to go about it. Isn't that TJ fella supposed to be their internet manager?

are they letting people sit in it/test drive? might go visit just to see it since it's close to work. No way I'm paying their markup/addons premium though. (And it's the wrong color for me)

I just went to see the red one at 101. The sales guys were pretty nice, let me sit in the car and check it out, but no test drive. It's being kept in a garaged area. They said it only has 3 miles or so on it but I didn't/couldn't verify. The leather seats are not installed yet. But the markup amounts to something like $3K for the leather and $595 for tint. Car is auto, with trunk mat and rear bumper applique. Oh and no front plate installed yet. The guy who showed me the car said there are multiple deposits down for the next car which is supposed to be white (white and black are popular preorders he said). The guy also said the markups for the leather and tint are negotiable. Sounds like they are trying to make a nice profit on these items, but if you are in the market for a red auto and wanted leather and tint anyways, might be worth trying to talk them down some.

I stopped by Carlsen Subaru today to get a look at the BRZ. They had 2 on the lot, WR Blue Premium is sold and DGM Premium is available... at $1K markup, firm. Got to sit in it but no test drive. Sales guy did put in the key and fired it up, so I could see it had 10 miles on it. FYI the front bumper has been repainted, he said it was scraped coming off the truck.
It's been an interesting day, having sat in both FR-S and BRZ... now to make a final decision...
