Isn't there a nob or something to close the vents?

Try venting it to the windshield defrost setting.

The two center vents have shut-off switches so you don't get drafts.
The outer vents also close completely. This should take care of it....just make sure you don't have the vent setting set to Floor just in case. |

I tried something today that may help. I turned the AC on for about 5 minutes to cool the vents and then turned the AC off. The vents remained cool after that. Could be that letting it sit outside heats the vents.

It seems that the cabin air intake is located above the firewall just outside of the hood but also on a location that's close to where engine heat exits. I noticed this too...
However with all cars equipped with standard AC it may well be part of very rigorous design exercise where minimal ducting is required to save weight. I know this may sound ridiculous by normal standards, but in my recent conversation with Mr.Tada, on my inquiry as to why seat recliner memory latch was omitted from the FT86, his response was that however convenient it was, added 2kg to the weight, and his goal was to reduce it by every gram possible. So I just want to think positive. Also, if the engine bay is emitting heat well, and engine itself is dissipating it well. It also means that the overall, the engine will stay cooler on heavier track duties. Possibly even offsetting the consumption by ultra efficient AC system by keeping engine efficient, cool, and well advanced on timing of ignition. Just food for thought, and one of many choices the designers made?

I remember with the First Gen Toyota Matrix the A/C didn't blow that cold on those hot and humid days and the A/C Line needed proper insulation which helped drastically.
Maybe look into that and get some foam piping insulation from Lowes. |

We have a vehicle (non-Toyota) that blows cold AC while driving but when stopped, it's not nearly as effective. This is because of the small AC components used for weight savings and packaging. It took some getting used to (we inspected the equipment to be sure it was functioning properly) but now it's just a character traits of the car.

Perhaps you picked up a bad batch of Fuel? It happens more often than you think. Also you may want to try resetting your ECU, so that your Learning Trims default back to stock parameters. Hopefully everything is fine.

Hi all,
New here to the fr-s/BRZ forums. my daughter and i just bought a 2014 BRZ for her about 3 weeks ago.been reading, watching youtube videos, etc. on this new toy we bought. former owner had a problem with the A/C. beeing cold on driver side and hot on the pass. side. so i did a little researching and found it to be maybe the blender door. took this pic up underneath the dash, had to remove the glove box to see it (i also changed out the cabin filter). I cycled the controls and found that this actuator never moved ,so i assumed i did find it to be the blender door actuator and looking thru this old thread, it doesnt seem that anyone found the cure. Can i assume it just needs changed out/replaced?Thanks in advance |
