2 doors, 2 seats, Ø roof, windscreen optional roadsters. The rest are GT's, coupes, sedans or wagons.

Nimble lightweight RWD. Miata, S2000, Twins, Cayman/Boxster, Elise, RX-8, etc.

Cars like the 350z/370z, G35/G37, Mustang/Camaro/Challenger and Genesis Coupe really stretch the definition of a sports car because of their weight and size, so I'd put them in the GT coupe category.

Cars like the Evo/STI, while fast, aren't really sports cars either. More like AWD turbo sedans.

And FWD hot hatches, while fun, really belong in their own category as well.

All of the above, though, could be broadly categorized as sporty cars.

Mine was legally licensed with DOT slicks.

Lots of racecars out there both open and fixed roof, but IMO road going sports cars should be topless 2-seat roadsters.

Sorry but if its a minimum 15 years old then you have to replace the zipties with metal clothes hangers, no plastic crap. My Dad always said, "It ain't a race car unless at least one part is being held on by a twisted metal clothes hanger".

I'd say any car that's main design goal is performance.
