Good luck man. That track is sweet. I might check into that event and go out there as well. I was nervous and intimidated my first few laps, needed yo get to know the track. For me that was the biggest thing. I am getting more comfortable with my car, but I really need a good instructor to show me the lines and such.

The best was when I would get behind a more experienced driver and try to follow their line, problem was that they were usually to fast for me and would leave me behind after a short time.

I was just out there last weekend. Hopefully I can get some of my video up soon.

It's a Porsche Club event, but non PCA drivers (even with a non-Porsche vehicle) can sign up - I believe they'll give preference to PCA members if the event fills up completely though. I can give you the link if you want - it'd be neat to have a BRZ or two out there

Gotcha.

I will have to reach out to a friend of mine, he runs in the porsche club and would be nice to get out there and get some instruction from him. he offered to let me run the track in one of his porsche's, although i would rather run my own car to learn on it better.

Shoot me a link, just in case im looking at the wrong thing.

Subscribed as well. Signed up for track day at the end of June so I have time to buy brake upgrades and a few other things.

Thanks gents for the feedback on the Stoptechs. I already messaged Mike and am deciding on whether to go with dedicated track pads or hybrids. I am leaning toward hybrids though.

Juliog,

How are you liking the hybrids? Noise level, dust level, life expectancy? (Compared to the Stoptechs if you remember?) If I do go hybrids, Mike recommended Project Mu HC+800, Winmax W4, or Carbotech XP8.
Well, to throw a kink into your decision making process... check out the other thread I linked a few posts up

Here's the registration link: https://www.motorsportreg.com/events...ountain-163034

It's $10 extra for a non-PCA member, and you'll be waitlisted until 2 weeks prior to the event. I don't think it's going to completely fill up though, so you should be OK.

Oh, and as for the talk about brake fluid/pads, I'm just going to run my stock ones for now. Theoretically (if you believe the Porsche dealer), the stock fluid they put in should be fine, and the pads shouldn't fade much (though they may wear alarmingly quickly). I'll probably look at them before and after the event, and then based on what happens this time, decide what I want to do for future events.

For OEM brakes, Porsche's are truly outstanding. It might not hurt to take a peek at the pads after each session. Do you know how far you can run them down before they're done?

They actually have a wire embedded in the pads near the wear limit, and when they detect the wire has been broken (because the pad has worn down to that point), they tell you on the dash, so I'll know if they get near their limits.

I'm pretty sure modern Audis and BMWs do the same thing. It is nice, admittedly, but it also makes replacement pads significantly more expensive.
