Hey guys. So I just got my car and it has around 280 miles on it so far. I'm not sure if I can make it to the 1000 miles break-in period in 2 weeks unless I go cruising everywhere. Should I wait or should I just register my car for the event?

I would wait longer, I don't believe in keeping it under 3000 RPM for 1000 miles, but pushing it on a track day seems like a bad idea. When I was breaking it in I didn't baby it, but drove it only moderately hard.

We had 900 miles on our 2014 when it was boosted, and it saw the track shortly after.

Our 2013 saw the track with 700 miles on it.

Wow, this sounds perfect. Never been to a track before so the beginner stuff is great for me. A couple questions..

Is there a fuel pump there?
About how many miles will we be driving during the course of a day on the track?
Anything else needed besides a helmet?
I'm sure I can ask at the track, but would you suggest turning off traction control while we're on the track?

Thanks!

Man, I am soooo itching to do this, but 1) not sure I can stomach the 3 hr drive that early in the morning and 2) don't really want to pay for a hotel room on top of entry fee and lots of gas.

Can we get a track in San Diego plz? kthx...

I find TC is in the way for ANY aggressive driving. It'll kick in for me on freeway onramp loops, and I can assure you I'm in no danger of sliding off the road or spinning in circles.

Split a room with someone in Palmdale or Lancaster. You can get a ncie 3 star room (Marriott Courtyard, etc) for about $50.

*edit* could be a good way to have a mini-meet Friday night... Yardhouse!

There is a pump at the track, but the nearest gas station is only a 5 minute drive away, and they're totally reasonably priced. The track also has 100 unleaded and 110 leaded.

I'd guesstimate about 80-100 miles on track

Layered clothing is best; conditions can changed QUICK in the desert. Bring some drinks and snacks for yourself, and I highly recommend caffeine. Sunscreen as well.

If it's going to be a 1 time experience, leave it on. If you're going to be attending more than one day, then I recommend you turn it off, so that you can make the mistake, then recognise the mistake, and correct the mistake.

I dunno, sounds like a bad idea. I've been a victim of their beer list once before...
