That's a rumor, other articles I've read have said (also on rumor) that they may introduce the sedan version first and bring the hatchback later. I would want a hatchback if I bought one, and I can't see why Subi wouldn't make the hatch either. They are very popular where I am from.

From my understanding, the sedan will come first and the hatch shortly after, but the STI will only be available in sedan. No more STI hatch.

Can't see why they're bagging the hatch STI, around me it's at least 5:1 hatch to sedan, probably closer to 10:1...

Looks pretty hot. Dunno why it reminds me of a Lexus crossed with an Evo.

Found this in the Autoblog comments. Not sure if legit, but it's apparently been leaked...

If real (which it appears to be) I'm extremely disappointed by the Civic SI looking proportions. This + the supposed no hatch and I can't imagine it will do very well.

I'd need to see the STI version before passing judgement. I like that they're going back to a front end similar to my 05, but the rest looks a bit too 'commuter' to me. I was considering buying the previous hatch STI, but couldn't get past the Camry-looking front end. The BRZ is 360 of sexy.
