I'd say Scion if you are going to track the car - their warranty rocks the Subaru's hoooord

I'm buying one there and I'm in the bay area. Flying there to pick it up. $100 for the flight plus maybe two nights of hotels and gas money for the 1200 mile trip... Will be under $500 to drive it back. Saving thousands over buying a car here in California!

but just for the sake of arguing...the US isn't the only place people drive cars... however, Silver ignition will only be sold in the US market so there will only be 2500 Silver ignition FT86's in existance in the whole world... where as all the other colors are as common as vanilla ice cream.

And to your trim level argument, I can counter argue that only 750 FR-S are manual, making it even more rear.
Galaxy Blue is being discontinued for 2014 on the BRZ. They've made probably less than 1000 of them for the US market alone. Its going to be a Unicorn color even more rare than the 10 series.

Also if you want to do some harder mods, transmission, suspension, or driveshaft stuff, go with scion, Subaru has been known to have a harder warranty clause.

How did you get in touch with them? If you don't mind me asking, how much are you paying for yours? (You can pm me if you like). Also, which color did you pick?

What kind of mods will void the Scion warranty? I was thinking even getting aftermarket wheels would void it...

Can you provide me with more details about how it compares? I did want to make modifications to it once I got accustomed to the vehicle. What kind of mods are allowed with Scion and which ones are not?

Thanks.

Officially, the warranties are the same -- the usual language about how modifications can void a warranty, blah, blah blah.

The difference is that, on average, Scion dealers seem to be a bit more open to looking beyond modifications and repairing an issue if it is a legitimate one. Whereas, generally, Subaru dealers tend to be a bit more strict and more than a bit overzealous on trying to (usually incorrectly) blame mods for issues.

There's no guarantee that any one will be any "better" than the other regarding modifications. Your local Subaru dealer may be a very good one, whereas your Scion dealer may fight you on every mod you have. That Scion is 'better' about modifications is simply a generalization. One that, at least anecdotally, does seem to be based in reality, but a generalization nonetheless.

Indeed it will, but the FRS is going to be the dime-a-dozen version of this car compared to the BRZ. Not that its a bad thing, I was going to buy whichever one I could get for less and that turned out to be the BRZ :P

Get the BRZ limited if you can get at MSRP. The Scion 10 logo lights are childish. This is from a FRS owner.

They can also be unplugged, there are other reasons to prefer the 10 series though.

How many Scion TCs from various Release Series have been considered collectors items?

How many Miata M Editions are considered classics?

The only real collectors items are the ones that are actually rare and different enough. And no, neither the glowing badge or features that came standard on the other twin is rare or different enough.

I'm talking like S2000 CR, RX8 R3, M3 CSL kinda stuff. Those are the collector cars. Paint job specials are just money grabs.
That might be a valid point, only time will tell.
