Ihave been doing many tests during this weekend trying to figure out what iscausing this code.

Ihave basically taken apart and changed all the Vortech kit hoses and vacuumlines. I had an oil catch can and I removed it during the testing, just incase. I verified all connections checking for boost leaks or vacuum leaks. Ihad changed the BOV/Discharge valve for an HKS SSQV and I removed it and triedthe stock plastic valve. The gas tank CAP trick does not work; I tested it justin case.

Ihave done so many test I did not know what else I could do except remove theVortech kit itself

Whichtook me to the point of placing the stock MAP sensor and flashing my previousNA ROM back since I had ECUTEK before I had the Vortech Kit. THIS ACTUALLYWORKED AND THE ERROR NO LONGER APPEARED. After many test the car is workingwith the stock MAP and the Tuned NA Flash I had before the Vortech kit. Thistells me it should not actually be a mechanical issue.

IFlashed the new Vortech base tune with the stock MAP sensor installed and I gotthe check engine light again which eliminates the MAP as the problem. I believethere is something happening on our cars with the Vortech base tune that doesnot affect all users. Maybe something that is different in our cars that doesnot allow the standard "base" Vortech kit tune to work correctly.

I amadding this information in an effort to help tuners find what is causing theissue. I am using the same Vortech base tune many others are using and theydon’t have the issue but for me it does not work correctly and I get the checkengine light (same for you guys for what I read here). I have read about 3people with this error here and now 4 with me and I have heard of 2 moreelsewhere which means it is not an uncommon error as I was thinking at first. Ithought I was the only one getting this error but a bit of research gave memore insight on others and what they have tried.

Theonly thing I know is that it does not seem to be a mechanical issue. I hopethis helps tuners find what is causing it or a way to maybe change the ECUTEKMap so it ignores the cause of the error maybe and hopefully fixing thesymptoms.

Theseare the symptoms I am getting when the check engine light is activated:

*thecar always works in automatic mode in Drive or in Manual it shifts by itself Iheard when the car gets a check engine it adopts some security measures causingthis

*thecar is always set to sport mode even when it is turned off most likely causedby the security feature as well

*thecar gets a bit “jumpy” low in the power band. I get this when the check enginelight is off as well but it is worst when the check engine light is on

*WORSTOF ALL the car is wasting too much fuel almost double it normally uses when thecheck engine light is on. I was expecting more fuel consumption because of FIbut this is ridiculous getting aprox. 10 to 12 MPG

Whenyou reset the codes the car seems to go back to normal. Fuel MPG is average 14not so good but not as bad as when the light come on. The code stays off until3 or 4 starts later specially on cold starts. Seems erasing the codes quicklywhen the light appears helps the issue a bit but it would be nice if someoneactually found the cause so it can be eliminated totally or at least find a wayto bypass the code with the ECUTEK software...

The other errors I have read about are:

P0068 -Throttle Position Sensor Inconsistent with the Mass Air Flow Sensor (PossibleBoost/Vacuum leak)
P0108- MAP Pressure Circuit High Input (MAP sensor related error)
Make sure with base map is set up to work with the stock Map sensor

Just got another P0456 on a start up this morning.

Noticed throttle response is not as sharp. In 1st I gotta punch the throttle a little more than usual to get the rpms to rise.

Mpg is noticeably lower too.

@difuxionx

I just picked my car up yesterday after having the Vortech kit installed with a custom tune. Popped the code P0451 as well, first start up. Again, like you, clearing it with it coming back every 3rd or 4th startup.

Also, whenever I start my car, there is hesitation to start. It does turn over, but there is one slight hesitation before it does. Could this be related to the code?

I find it weird Vortech guys getting the P0451 code. I also can't fathom how is a thread from July 2013 and to this date no one has a clue what that code means.

P0451 - Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Range/Performance

Read more: http://engine-codes.com/p0451.html#ixzz2xpJ6ZYo8

Faulty Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) Pressure Sensor
- Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) Pressure sensor harness is open or shorted
- Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) Pressure sensor circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

This happens to turbo cars who use the EVAP connector for boost control via an EBCS.
It is a code the tuner can just "remove check mark" in Ecutek and it won't appear again.

P0456 is related.

@Sportsguy83

I also had them install an AEM wideband AFR/Boost gauge. Could that be connected to the EVAP system, and be faulty, therefore throwing the code?

Sorry if the question doesnt make sense. I am new to FI and everything related.

I understand your question. I installed the AEM failsafe in my car. It has nothing to do with it. Does not connect to the EVAP solenoid at all.

Any idea where this pressure sensor is located?

EDIT: I believe it is located in the fuel tank? I also had them install the upgraded DW fuel pump. Maybe something wasn't tightened/sealed properly when reinstalling? Thoughts?

EVAP solenoid is below/behind intake manifold on the driver's side.

Thanks for the link and the quick responses. I appreciate it very much. I will check out the solenoid tonight.

Any thoughts that this might be related to the hesitation during startup I'm experiencing?

Are you on stock injectors? Pump gas or E85? What tune are you using?

Im on pump gas with FIC 660cc injectors, and a custom tune from EFI Logics. I don't have any more specifics on the tune, if needed. Thanks again.

I'd say they need to adjust the tune to better suite the injectors on the cranking tables.

I bet its only when cold. Once the car is warmed up, you can shut/start it with no more problems?
