Spray cans will only get you so far and you will almost always have a rough texture with them.. but best of luck.. practice makes perfect (that was cheesy)

got a link to that video from Fonzi? I'd like to re-do my rims without having to take the whole damn thing off

Go for Green!

I do agree with those who say that if you want to change it down the line (or if this is a temporary thing), just wait until you can get what you really want, unless you have $400-500 burning a hole in your wallet. If you just want to change things up though, people who plasti-dip their cars seem to be happy with them for the most part. If you get it done right in a color you like, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Anyway, green FR-S' are by far some of the most beautiful ones that I've seen. I mean, who could argue with this:

Because that is both classy and sporty. Now I know what you're thinking..."well that's obviously not matte, that's not what it would look like at all!", so check this out:

Ok, so that is a wrap, but you get the idea. Just don't get that lime green color that you see on Lamborghini's and tacky looking BMW's.

Also, don't do Matte Black. There's just too many of them out there. Most of my cars have been black and eventually that gets boring. OTOH, if you tastefully add different trim to a black car, it can look awesome as well.

But still, whatever you do I say go with green. Moss, Forest or Hunter (or Olive if you want something brighter). Make sure to post pics if you do go through with it because I'm sure we all want to know how it turns out!

that matte army green on the FR-S above is exactly how I want my frs to look! I already have all my emblems dipped black and my wheels as well. Looks so sick.

I would like to know where this price quote of 400-500$ is coming from...we did the pink brz twice for less than 140$ each time (granted it is not a perfect job, but we arent professional sprayers )

The quotes are coming from shops, if you take your $140 then add on a bunch of labor costs you get $400-$500. I plan on doing mine, just haven't decided what color yet(thinking the camo green and black or orange) I will be using a spray gun though. As for the touch up, it's really easy. I had winter tires on my wheels when I originally dipped them, when I had the tires swapped the machine chewed up the edges. Using the thinner I was able to smooth them out and respray, now you can hardly tell they were ever messed up(I say hardly because getting in between the tire and wheel was very hard)

well if you go to the dip your car website, they sell the kit for nearly 400 bucks...the shops will tack on $100 for labor costs. I really think the $400-500$ range that i was quoted at is fair. I'm located in SoCal..maybe its different in other regions.

I just dont trust myself enough to do it on my own. Also, due to CA laws, the dip your car kit cannot be shipped to CA because they wont allow the gallon buckets of plastidip shipped here for some reason. So for those two reasons alone, i wouldn't mind paying the money for it.

Looks really good, that black strip at the bottom w/ the black fender vent looks sick! Did you do it yourself or a pro shop?
