Is anyone having any type of problems when down shifting from 6 to 5? every time I down shift, it grinds. So far I have just said screw it and just gone from 6 to 4, but of course not over reving. can anyone chime in on this.

Thoughts, words. Thanks
I have this same problem with the tranny cold or warm, and about 50 seems to be the magic number. Above 50 and it grinds and below it seems to be fine. The dealer is in the process or ordering a new tranny for my car, unless of course they find a reason that this problem is my fault.

Yep. Had this exact problem, even when rev matching and making sure I was doing it when going under 65 mph. Toyota eventually ended up replacing my entire transmission, and it's been going strong for five months.

It would really be almost impossible to actually break or even seriously damage a modern synchro manual gearbox, or any other part of the drivetrain.

Over the years, I have BADLY abused some vehicles, and the worst I ever did was snap a U-joint.
No clutches, throw out bearings, or anything?

As for the bolded section, I just can't believe that statement. I've personally destroyed synchros in 2 transmissions now. And don't even want to talk about clutches and TOBs.

^ You suck at driving or have engines that are too powerful for their transmissions....

I know saying "you suck" is harsh but I have owned 3 manuals, drove them all hard, all of them were running fine when I sold them off.

My family has had a few manual family cars, 4 kids learnt how to drive standard on them, they were shared, abused, etc etc. None of them had transmission issues. Ford, Hyundai, Toyota, etc,.
