So if my warranty is voided since I'm going to have my SC installed. Do they still fix my car if it is a recall ?

What's the relationship between software updates and injector seal failure?

Toyota seems to be a little better with the after sales and the warranty stuff. I was a little torn between the frs and brz... but I think it's going to be frs for sure. I wouldn't be surprised to see some asbestos seals come out for this even if they're after market. Can't use it in brake pads and such, but this would be a perfectly viable application.

Really getting tired of these guys.
They have pictures of their rally cars hanging everywhere and pump their products at SEMA but the minute you purchase any of this stuff they blame every engine issue on your after market parts.
You put the exhaust on, so you should take it upon yourself to swapped the stock one back before getting your car serviced. I'm getting the TRD exhaust.

Just start a new one with a poll man. It'll get more attention.

@Carwhisperer:

1) Thanks for Post #39.

2) Combustion/misfires above 5200 rpm caused the nylon collars to fail? Have I understood that correctly?

Not misfires, detonation. Also called spark knock, sounds like pinging from the engine. Most modern cars will have some light detonation from time to time, and it's considered normal. Any time you have detonation the cylinder pressures are higher than during normal combustion. Apparently this is blowing out the nylon seal.

Not yet. I have emailed scion, Toyota, and the NHTSA. If you do the same, and demand we get the fix ASAP, it will happen much faster. Send an email or get on the phone today.

That "on-off-on" cause is in direct opposition with my driving habits. I shift slowly to preserve the synchros in the tranny, as well as the engine mounts; the RPMs on this car drop rather slowly as a byproduct of tuning for emissions purposes and a heavi-ish flywheel.

I do, however, do a "on-off-on" to induce rotation mid-turn, without shifting. In other words, I'll lift on the throttle and get back on it to upset the car's balance.
