The FRS better be below 20k if they are being that lame
Yep they did take some stuff out of the FR-S...it's only missing the HIDS with LED drls and push button start and the frameless rear view mirror oh and the leather\alcantara seats. I don't think any of the american BRZ or FR-S has the frameless rear view mirror. But you know they added in a few things like the Bespoke system so lets hope that the FR-S is still under $23K and it will be a good deal.

No way this car was ever going to be under 20K. There is too much goodness in this car to be that cheap. Look at what a loaded 2012 honda civic SI coupe cost? About $23k...

The FR-S has better brakes, engine, suspension, weight, and RWD and interior bits and pieces over the tC. Oh and it looks way better than the tC. It's going to be more expensive.

Am I the only one not excited for a battery strut bar?! Put the money elsewhere. Start/stop button does look nice. Hope the fob doesn't have to leave your pocket.

^Concept designers are given more liberty to let their imaginations run wild even if some parts are not feasible from a production standpoint. I don't see the function of that twist point in the middle of the tie down so I doubt it'll make it. Just like the full dry carbon hood won't make it to production.

Yeah this sort of did it for me. I think I'll be holding off my purchase till I see what STI has to offer on the production model.

re the rear view mirror, i wouldn't be surprised if they are not on the US spec cars becos they don't comply with US rules. They are not on the BRZ as well and Subaru isn't exactly trying to cut cost with the BRZ.

Really doesn't look that different from a regular BRZ. At least it's not overdone but I'd rather save the extra money it takes to buy the STI model and just do my own mods myself. I can see Subaru doing the BRZ STI the way Nissan does the Nismo Z.

Doesn't do enough to differentiate itself from a normal BRZ.

It is just one of many things they cheaped out on that add up to the FRS being a lower quality version of the 86 (headlights, interior plastics, radio head unit). The overall cheapness is the deal breaker, unless it is below 20k. Even then, I think I'd pay a few grand more for the BRZ without the cheap corner cutting. Being a Scion, we know there won't be any trim levels, only port installed options. I would have preferred they offer the Scion version and a Toyota version and let us choose if we want the cheapo edition.

Really? It's a mirror vs a mirror without borders. I can see if you were comparing a auto dim mirror with direction and temperature built in along with the programmable garage buttons vs just a standard mirror. But really...lol, it does nothing for me to have a border or not.

no hp bump, no care. everything else is a simple bolt on except the roof, which may not save much weight anyways.

Looks great but for what will likely be 4-5k more, I'd rather go aftermarket. Need power mods or not worth it.

Roof and hood won't make it. Brakes look nice but probably aren't needed on this lightweight car. So, money would be spent on decals, wheels & suspension. That's not enough reason for me to get the sti. I'd rather take that money and get my own lightweight wheels and better suspension.

The borderless rear view mirror is not $1000...it's like a $100 to $200 part at most...Even the optional auto dimming rear view mirror on the Scion tC is only $229. Most of the homelink rear view mirrors are only like a $300-$400 option.

Now if they could make a borderless homelink auto dimming rear view mirror...

The rearview mirror in the 86 and non North American BRZ is borderless and nothing else. I doubt it is auto dimming.

The only reason why it is not standard on the American BRZ and FR-S is because of our rules, or they just decided to leave it out and make it an option. People will import it for sure. Why because it looks hell cool!

I can't think of any other car with a borderless rear view mirror!
