Very sorry this happened to you. A$$hole drivers around here too who don't give you space when you intend to change lanes. Glad you/others are OK.

That sucks!

Glad you're alright. Keep us posted on the car status, if it ends up getting totaled, grab what you can off of it, I am sure people around here will buy up some of the parts to help recover some of your expense.

Not necessarily. It depends on the body shop. Most of what isn't the same is mostly psychological. Cars break, just like people. We fix it and move on.

I know exactly how you feel buddy. I've put 15k into a previous car and was smashed into a quarter panel pretty bad once. It sucked and felt like the car was junk. Once I took it to a good body shop and saw the great work and how everything was ok afterwards, it didn't bother me anymore after some time. In fact, I drove it harder and smarter. (: All will be well..

The one thing that should happen after this is that you learn from the experience. Just like another poster said- cars can be replaced, people can't. It could have been worse to the point that you would have had the burden of taking someone's life. Live and learn. I totalled a brand new 2005 Mini Cooper S when I was 16 and in high school and I completely know what you're going through right now. Take it easy and breathe.

I'd see if there's any damage to the frame.

FRS/BRZ frame:

I'd really feel uneasy if the body shop needs to use one of those frame alignment machines.

If they total it, they sometimes give you the option to buy the car back with a salvage title. They pay off your loan and then put a price on the remains of the car. If you were to buy it back you could part it out and potentially make more money depending on what they value it at.

damn i feel for ya

you're better off having them total it and pay off your loan then go buy a new one. it'll take forever to get parts in and have them fix it.
