Based on information noted by other members of this forum and the 86 renderings in the brochure, I believe that Toyota will offer a third headlight housing at some point that is black and has a different style led accent. You can also reference images from carmagazine.co.uk from their test drive that clearly show these headlights.

some interesting tidbits i read from the articles-

the aerodynamics were done based on a new design principle called "aerohandling" which puts less emphasis on downforce and more on sandwiching airflow to the right and left of the car, and above and beneath the car. this method increases stability and control-ability. probably reduces drag as well, seeing as increased downforce usually also increases drag.

the D-4S system in the 86 is not the current D-4S system available in already existing toyota products. it is a next gen D-4S system. without it it would have been impossible to make 200hp without reving it more than 7000rpm and it would have been impossible to meet their ambitious gas mileage targets. this makes me think that they didn't go for a higher redline in order to produce some very high mileage numbers. apparently there was a lot of apprehension to exposing subaru engineers to this next gen tech that hadn't even been put to market yet.

Really. Ever.

I'm actually willing to bet that we will see a factory boosted version or turbo kit before this car ends half it's life cycle.

I LOVE U GUYS.. I LOVE TOYOTA... I LOVE THE 86.... I LOVE THAT IVE BEEN ABLE TO FOLLOW THIS AND SHARE WITH EVERYONE AS PASSIONATE ABOUT THE FT-86 (GT-86) AS MUSH AS I....

All this shitty nightshift is gonna pay off bigtime.......

Not to mention i've sold the ute and for a good price......
Car seen in my avatar but in silver not blue.... Holden SS 6ltr Thunder Ute... (Google it!!!)....
And the new girlfriend is letting me use her crappy camry until Toyota Australia are taking deposits..... Will have to stick with her until then LOL...... J/J

Honestly its all to much!!!!!!

Every new bit of info on options ie TRD etc i go 'ok it will be $$$ but ill pay'.....

Now that there is evidence of multiple production options im dizzy with what ill be doing option wise..... It will be pure evil if Australia doesnt get to have all the JDM options from factory... Let alone the US with the scion and there factory options.....

Ichitaka!!!!!!!! Hurry up with the translations!!!!!!!!! LOL..... U know i think highly of u and i hope u can sympathize with my frantic impatience

Regarding the D-4S, I don't think that's the right interpretation. 200hp at 7000rpm is really easy. They could've done a lot more with this engine than they did, but perhaps they didn't want to share too much with Subaru. Wait a minute, maybe that explains everything...

it's not an interpretation, i'm just translating what was written in japanese.
direct quote from the article by lfa engine project director takamitsu okamoto 「ポート噴射の2リッターで200ps出そうとすると、回転数を7600以上ぐらいにもっていく必要がある 。燃費を確保するためにはある程度回転数を下げなければいけない」 literal translation: with a traditional port injection 2 liter, you would have to rev to 7600 or over in order to make 200ps. to achieve good mileage you have to lower revs to a certain extent.
