Yeah, really.

What's $21K? Harleys?

The only sport bikes in that price range are some Ducatis and other exotica (Aprilia, et al). BMW 1000RR is ~$16K, Hayabusa/ZX-14 and the various literbikes are in the $11K-$13K range.

Did you try bending the metal tab on the lid? I had to do this with one of my Subies when someone else suggested it and the lid stopped requiring my pressing the button several times to unlatch it.

I still press the button more than once out of habit. I hate the thought of pressing it once, going around the car, and having it not open, then having to return to that damn button. haha

The misunderstanding has already been addressed and taken care of within several posts from the one you replied to, sir.

It's only done it once so I haven't had to experiment yet. I guess the real question is what do you do if it refuses to open?

Thanks for all the good info guys. Its funny I have a motorcycle and the attendants let me pump my own gas but I've gotten yelled at for pulling out the pump and printing a receipt during busy days when I was in a rush. Babying this car is almost impossible for me but whatever, I can hold off for one tank I guess. So far I have not noticed any issues for the first about 80 miles.

I had that happen in my 2.5 RS once or twice. It sucks. I think it was because it was cold and the pin wouldn't release the lid. I believe I wound up spraying it with a de-icer.

With my STI and Forester this might have happened, also, but that was before I knew about bending the tab. So, my advice to you is to go ahead and just BEND THAT TAB. Only a tiny bit, though. It doesn't need to be much.
