Very bad headlights...

But the winner of ugly is:

Most of BMWs skrew ups was headlight design. Several which could be blamed on that Chris Bangle guy.... Otherwise.. A lot of nice cars!

Cant blame BMW for not being experimental. Unlike certain other manufacturers..

I think most people who like the FR-S/BRZ will like this though!

Most of their cars are nice looking overall.

The new 6-series looks excellent, headlights and all.

The 7-series has been ugly for many years now, not just the headlights. The entire car looks horrible to me.

What the hell? I've never seen those headlights on a BMW, at least not one in the U.S.

I hated the Bangle era for the most part, especially the Bangle-Butt that plagued so many of his designs.

Yeah, actually I LOVE the design of this car, despite the fact that it still holds some of the Banglized styling themes:

BMW E46 3-series Compact 2000–2004. Not sold in North America. Predecessor to the more classic BMW E36 Compact. It got replaced by the 1-series.

Im pretty sure this shot was taken only a couple of miles from my home. Official Z4 photo..

No surprise it rained.. :p Or conditions were wet. Rain is probably photoshopped to some extent but still a great looking picture and car!

Hehe, yep. Audi keeps getting prettier and prettier, and BMW keeps getting weirder and uglier. I'll stick to the old school stuff.

I'm bummed to hear that they won't be putting the new F20 2.0 turbo in the current 1 series. The new 1 is urrrrgly! Maybe they can find a way to tidy up the 1 coupe and include it with the F20. That would definitely catch my attention. It'd be like a modern interpretation of my 318is.

Haven't you heard that Audi has overtaken both BMW & Porsche for having the biggest prick owners?

Bring on the Audi jokes!

On a more serious note, I'll post this picture to keep you happy. This, in my opinion, is the best looking BMW you can buy today, bar none. I think they did a fantastic job with the styling on this car. It's almost as pretty as my car (but not quite):

Edit: I really like this rear 3/4 view too:

I get the Audi BMW thing.. They are both German Premium manufacturers, both rivals. But yet so different in their approach towards driving.
I think Mercedes and BMW drivers get along quite fine. They are both more centered around RWD.

Is it a bit common in the US that BMW and Audi drivers are considered to be the least considerate drivers and generally drive faster than others?

Kinda strange Subaru Impreza and Mitsubishi Evo owners don't get along that well in my opinion..

MX5 and FR-S/BRZ owners seem to get along much better than FR-S/BRZ and Hyundai Genesis owners from what I have seen. Might be because they have more of the low weight and driving feel in common??

It's rooted in the same thing that makes people identify so strongly with their favourite sports team, political party or other affiliation.

That said, in the case of Audi and BMW, there's plenty of rivalry between the companies themselves, at least as far as US marketing goes. Have you seen the battle of the billboards?

I can't speak for the rest of the world, but most the rivalry between American Audi and BMW owners seems to be centered around young male enthusiasts. For some reason that eludes me, Audi owners in that demographic seem to feel they need to prove something, and BMW owners feel just a little bit smug. All I can think of to explain it is that if you want the rear wheels driven in your Audi you have to go with Quattro, and the BMW enthusiast community is by far larger and more organized.
MB on the other hand speaks to a different audience in the US - affluent people who want comfort and luxury over sportiness.

Haha that's an understatement, but only for BMW, Audi not so much. People see what you drive and either they're an enthusiast and they love your car or they're not and they instantly label you an asshole

See above re sports fan rivalry. Miata drivers don't need to prove anything to anyone, but in the cases of STi/EVO, Mustang/Camaro or even twins/GC it's all about emotions and loyalty.

We Americans are funny like that

Nice reply Einzlr! Makes a lot of sence.. I agree with what you say.

Same with MB over here... More comfort oriented.. (at least speaking for little Norway) But with the new A-class they are starting to appeal to a much larger audience. Especially the younger buyers who wants a sporty car.
And I have a Subaru Impreza buddy. EVO is the enemy.. :p lol...

BMW drivers are the same here. But Audi is among them, without being anything behind/worse. Last time i read something "official" about it was that Audi drivers were the worst drivers when it came to speeding.

The difference in my opinion is that with several BMW drivers you can have nice car conversations. About driving and stuff.
Audi drivers are in general the people who just want an up-market alternative to the other more normal cars (VW, Skoda, Seat.. etc).
VW Golf is the best selling car here. Guess what cars the "snobs" drive.. Audi A3. Which is basically the same car as the Golf, only a tad more premium and "posh".
(yeah, I have a bit attitude towards Audi. I should know better, but cant help myself at times. All other brands are fine)

A nice thing about BMW in Norway, actually think its among the Scandinavic Countries. BMW owners are the most loyal customers and also the people who are most satisfied with their cars. I have seen those results over and over again... My real life impressions seem to show much of the same.

I have a feeling that BMW have a much better reputation in EU than in the US.
