sorry to resurrect the pitiful CR-zzzz discussion... but the following quotes kinda sum up the CR-Z to me:

Quote:
CR-Z will never be able to operate in electric only mode, its very small electric motor will only be able to assist the normal engine... but 13hp? I think the Prius 3g has a battery output of 44hp for their electric motor.

So you will end up with a car that costs a lot of money, has lower mpg than an Insight and is slower than a Prius. What is the point of a sports coupe that gets 10sec 0-62? Are you going to race a stick shift Yaris that costs 12k? Because any other coupe sold in the USA will be considerably faster than that.
and this (in response to a CR-Z thread on honda-tech.com where someone said that if only an "Si" version of the car with a K20z and a 6 speed had been offered "it could have been the replacement for the now officially dead NSX and gone but not forgot S2000".)

Quote:
Your link fails and so does this thread.

CRZ a replacement for NSX and S2000? Nothing FWD could ever replace those two works of art.
Truly nothing "sporty" at all about the CR-Z!

.

The second quote is so very true. A FWD, no matter how fun it may be, could never replace or succeed the NSX and S2000.

As shown on Jalopnik
Quote:
Bikes, quads, outboards, race cars, robots. According to this English ad, all of Honda's knowledge went into creating the European Honda Civic. This may explain why they get a 72 MPG diesel and we get the 33 MPG CR-Z.

speaking of honda fails, wtf is up with killing off the s2k?! I'm still mad about this..they're just following toyota's footsteps into the inevitable boring decade, hopefully followed by a revamped line of sports cars

Weren't the Acura guys thinking about getting their hands into RWD?
I thought I heard that somewhere..

Edit: Oh, and I meant "Weren't" to be past tense. I'm pretty sure they scrapped the idea if they had it..

Speaking of Honda and RWD, I've heard Honda's got nice bikes.
Been thinking about getting myself a sport bike.

The S2000 was losing Honda money as sales dropped off the face of the earth pretty much from 2005-on. That's the reason they quit making the NSX after MY05.

Honda scrapped all RWD programs including the S2000 successor, the NSX, and the Acura program.

honda makes great bikes. the cbr600 is a great beginner honda bike with LOTS of power and the cbr1000rr is an amazing all around bike, crazy power, fast shifting, moto gp style snub nosed fairings. IMO the only bikes that beat honda are yamahas. kawasakis are nice as well, though.

but remember, the lower the displacement, the lighter the bike. most stunters ride 600s

im actually thinking about trying to get a 600F4i by next year. The RR is going to run me too much money for a beginner.

It's a shame honda is headed in the direction that they're headed in with their cars.

Rumor: Honda CR-Z Type-R

2011 Honda CR-Z – Click above for high-res image gallery

Quote:
The rumormongers at AutoExpress are at it again, donning their speculative fedoras and suggesting that a 200-horsepower Honda CR-Z Type-R is on the way. But if you were hoping for a K20 swap to ditch the hybrid setup, you're in for a disappointment.

In stock form, the production CR-Z unveiled in Detroit makes due with a 102 hp 1.5-liter four-cylinder mated to an electric motor good for an additional 20 ponies. If AE is to be believed, Honda and its internal tuning partner, Mugen, plans to up the output of the stock four-pot to approximately 150 hp. Since the CR-Z was designed from the onset to be a hybrid, apparently Honda just can't swap in the 2.0-liter engine from the Euro-Civic and call it a day. Instead, a beefed-up electric motor will be fitted – reportedly good for another 50 hp – and bringing total output up to 200 hp.

Naturally, the transformation won't just be under the hood. A reworked suspension, upgraded brakes and a smattering of body mods will be included in the package, along with an additional driving mode (bringing the total to three), "Sport Plus" which will reportedly modify throttle response, steering, the start-stop system and the electric motor assist.
If the Type-R comes to fruition, expect it to debut at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, with the production version arriving sometime in 2012.

Lol, it doesn't suck. From every test they've reported, the handling is unmatched and with Mugen working on it, it should be even better. A 200hp FWD hatch? Hell yes please. However, considering the price tag of the Mugen Si when it came out, I hope this thing doesn't go for 30k. I'm definitely keeping my eyes open and if this comes out, bye bye FT.
