It was Toyota's idea yes, but equally executed by both companies.

A moderator needs to merge all of these threads.

Oh and this is a scion, it looks to be designed by whoever made that beautiful XA design.

He wanted something that would handle even better and sent the engineers back to the drawing boards. To improve the handling, they had to lower the center of gravity even further and they figured they could do that with a flat engine that sits low to the ground. And guess who the boxer specialist in Japan? So yes, the car is built by Subaru but it's not your typical Subaru and looks like no other Subarus...because it's a Toyota by design.
The early FT86 prototype already had a boxer... unless you know something I don't? So which engine did the early prototype you speak of utilize?

the 5 star safety rating shows its Subaru lineage. The better interior UI shows it's Toyota lineage. The car is a better car given that both Toyota and FHI worked on it together.

According to my dad, a man that works for Toyota and has access to all this information is very adamant about this fact. The people who say that the FR-S/BRZ is a Subaru bought and paid for by Toyota are technically correct. This car does not have a single Toyota made part on it, even the injection system. According to my dad, the injection system and anything else on the car that has Toyota on the car was made by a vendor for Toyota.

It was definitely a joint venture by the two companies, but Toyota contacted Fuji Heavy Industries to build this car for them. So, at least in terms of the build and the parts, this car is purely Subaru. Sorry guys.

Every single FRS/GT86/BRZ is built by Subaru in Gunma, Japan...

It's true that even the Scion wheel caps are subaru made...For the 'Literally' folks out there...We are all driving Subaru Built vehicles. Love it or Hate it...

i can't believe the people that actually think this is a subaru only product just because the car's stamped subaru.

do you people also think the earth is flat because it is as far as your eyes can see? or do you all not comprehend the message that we're saying, which is the truth!

Toyota idea,

Team 86 consisting of toyota and subaru engineers

subaru manufactured!

end of story!
