i'm glad you and your family are ok...
not sure what insurance company you have, but if they increase the $ you have to pay them,i would have to question the whole insurance scheme all together.. how in gods name would you have to pay more when you take into consideration the situation you went through? would never happen with my insurance company.. but now i need to wonder if you are not exaggerating what could be/have been an outcome of a situation with your insurance company.. |

Not to be a downer, but it's not completely true. There is a chance this will affect your record.
I work at a bodyshop and you'd be surprise what counts and doesn't count. Usually vandalism and hit and runs don't count. But since it wasn't a hit and run, that's a different story. This accident won't go on Carfax or affect your insurance as long as you don't report it so. If you call them, then it's a toss up. Some insurance companies will say your vehicle was involved and that's enough for them. My car was parked and hit by two other cars that collided. This raised my premium and made it hard to shop around. It didn't affect my Carfax though oddly since it was repaired.. I finally found an insurance company that doesn't get affected as long as I wasn't at fault. Stick with a big name company and you should be fine. Shouldn't affect your VIN at all since no repairs were done. |

I'm with a pretty reliable and big-name insurance company, and they've been reasonable to work with from the time I even first started using them.

It shouldn't affect your rates at your current insurance company, but if you decide to change providers, it may show up as an incident on your record and you'll have to check "yes" to the question of whether you have been involved in an accident in the last N years.

Glad to hear everyone was okay! Also like basically everyone else said, unless you have some cut-rate agency you shouldn't see any negative repercussions from your insurance agency due to this. If you do simply inform them that you will be reporting it to the Better Business Bureau. That typically helps to change their minds and if it doesn't well report it and get a new agency.
As far as the HPDE events go that's good to hear they are paying off. I've found that I'm a lot more wary of my surroundings while driving ever since I started riding my motorcycle. I constantly am checking my mirrors to make sure no one is going to run me over. |

First off, I'm glad your daughter was able to sleep right through the event.
A couple of things for you: -Your rate would only go up in you were deemed at fault. -Your insurance rate is calculated to cover a certain number of not-at-fault accidents per 10year cycle. (unless you are with some cut-rate company as jstans pointed out, Fred Lloya is main one that comes to mind) -The officer listed you as invovled incase there was damage that you didn't see immediately, the 5mph crash foam behind many rear bumpers is a good example. I'd take it to Toyota and have them inspect it at the VW expense. Quote:

Okay... I called my local insurance agency which my family and I have been clients of for several years. I was upfront and told one the representatives about all this, and she told me that it will likely go on my driving record. She also said that it will not affect me in any way if I do not file a claim with either their insurance or my own insurance in order to complete any repairs. Going back to being recorded on my driving record: It will not raise my insurance costs, nor will it affect me negatively simply because I was not at fault, and it will show on my record that I was indeed not at fault.
Thank you all for all of your inputs... Nothing really to be bothered about as some of you mentioned already. And life goes on... :happy0180: *EDIT* jstans84 - I can relate with you... And you're right, HPDE has become a essential safety asset for me... Average folks may not understand, but there's a reason why I've been spending $300 a month for a long while now. ![]() JTM - Thank you for sharing that important / helpful information.
