I normally wait at least 3-5 mins (depends if I'm late) from cold start before driving up to operational temperature. I also don't race the engine over 2.5K RPM... After about 10 minutes of light-foot driving, I usually rev up to about 3K-4K range.

My guess is that maybe the oil isn't thin enough to enter the oil passages to properly lubricate the cams when not in the temperature range. It could be a slight design flaw on Subaru's part.

I don't know if this helps or if it's the reason, but just throwing my 2 cents out there.

Garage
7032xx.
24xx miles. Mostly city driving.
No CEL. No idle dip.
Idles at 650 RPM. Even the moment A/C turns on, it only drops to 620 RPM.

I also noticed that CEL is happening only in U.S. and Canada. Not in other countries. I wonder if it has something to do with the type of fuel we have here.

Intriguing, I was wondering the same thing about our gas.

So far I have not had any of the issues but I'm readying myself in case they do crop up.

Still driving the car and loving it.

All is well here so far.

FR-S
VIN# 2015
58xx miles
Lots of highway driving and a few autocrosses

I've noticed the idle dip but it's never been so bad as to make the car want to stall - 550-600rpm minimum.

I do have some occasionally wet taillights, though, but those should be replaced when I go in for 7500mi service.

vin 600550
42xx miles

only seems to happen with a/c running, clutch in and come to a stop. the idle will drop to ~500 car will shudder and rpm jumps. have noticed led running lights turn off while this happens(reflections on car in front of me). no cel's yet and it has been doing this pretty much the whole time i had the car. took it to the dealer and they couldnt duplicate it.

No issues here and I drive it hard everyday. I haven't had a studder once. The only thing that bothers me is the chirping, but i hear that that is normal for this car.

1,500 miles and no chirps or idle issues. Still early yet though, just enjoying the car every day.
