It's safe to run sea level tune and pulleys and just deal with the loss at 4000ft. But a tune and pulleys for 4000ft would definitely risk blowing the engine at sea level. Unless you want to run two different tunes every single day you would have to change pulleys at sea level for a 4000ft optimized tune or sacrifice performance at elevation with a sea level optimized tune.

How much power are you looking for? I rode in a guys car a while ago, made 340hp to the wheels and he DD'd it around 40 miles one way. Stock motor. Based on what you are saying in your OP that is more then what you want even at elevation.

270/200 at elevation and whatever that means at sea level is more than enough for me.

I would just buy a CARB legal kit with tune and call it a day. I'm sure you will have plenty of power for your needs. Most are in the 250WHP range give or take.

Sounds like a bolt-on kit is perfect for your needs.

I think the thread was asking which kit. Looks like turbo is confirmed.

What are your preferences on the kit DesertLava? You will be able to choose a pretty basic kit to satisfy those power goals.

That's where I have no real idea. I'll have to do a lot more digging and visit local shops who can advise me on the decision.

I'm lucky enough to be local to CSG and Delicious Tuning but there are so many turbo kits out there. Looking for the most solid stage 1 kit available. Don't know if there is a popular consensus among this forum as to which kit that is. I also need to figure out if my car being automatic will cause any additional researching.

So reliability is high on the list, does it need to be carb legal? What fuel?

CARB legal, yes. Fuel I pump 91 in Southern CA. Typically Costco or Chevron.

Then you're stuck with WORKS, and... well... the only selling point of it is that it's CARB legal.

It makes CARB supercharger levels of power, but with turbo lag. You're better off going supercharger.

This.

Only CARB legal turbo for our cars is from WORKS. And its a 6000$ kit. And only roughly makes 220-240 whp on 91 pump.

A question from another view point...

It sounds like you are asking for MAX power both at high elevation AND at sea level. Or am in misunderstanding it and you want MAX power at sea level and simply MORE than stock power at elevation?

If you are in the inland empire (Redlands to Ontario) you are more than welcome to take a ride in my supercharged (Harrop, but Edelbrock is same) 2017 (manual trans). We can even zip up to Big Bear to test elevation. I haven't even had a chance to do that yet myself.
