My mom and I are extremely close, and even speaking with her for days on end about it she still really struggles to understand it even years later.
My mom was the same way about my ADHD which was finally identified as being at the root of pretty much all my toxic emotional bullshit. It wasn't until after years of knowing optimally-medicated me that she started to come around. This was the same mom who had a library of self help books, a brother who committed suicide, and another who developed full-blown paranoid schizophrenia.

Haha I got a good laugh out of that. That shouldn't take long, good ole @Tcoat just has way to much time on his hands.

Yeah but you likely won't get him now. He prefers to do all his online bs while he is getting paid to work. LOL

I'm sorry about your uncle. My aunt was diagnosed with severe bipolar disorder and also decided to give up when she was 42. I always wonder what she figured out about herself after making it that far.

My Psychiatrist now is amazing and he has always put ADHD on the forefront and I'm always a skeptic about mass diagnosed psychological disorders but I do trust his research and experience.

Glad to know you are dealing with it.

ADHD seems to plague a lot of very intelligent people.

The following book is currently residing on our coffee table. It belongs to my wife who works with children who require special educational needs. She fights for their legal rights when they have been mistreated by the education sectors and local authorities due to lack of provision for special needs.

I saw this book in the library not long ago. Definitely worth checking out. My mom also works with special needs children on getting them up to speed. It's so easy for a child with a severe disorder to fall behind without teachers and TAs who give a little extra effort to give them a shot at success.
