Getting an extended warranty on my Motorcycle was a total waste of money and I think everyone should avoid getting an extended warranty on a quality vehicle that is purchased directly from a reliable manufacturer. If and when the costs come up, you can just pay for it out of pocket. As long as you stay on top of your maintenance and dont let problems snowball, it won't cost you more than the warranty does.

If you can't remember a single thing, then I'm sure it was just a sales pitch. But I'd love to be proven wrong about that, so let us know if it ends up being extremely comprehensive.

It seems pretty good, but this is more of an "extended service contract" rather than it just being an extended warranty, which makes sense then if it covers additional stuff.

But what it was comparing was the Subaru product versus similar products not offered by Subaru (which typically aren't going to be as good), not the "extended" product against the standard Subaru warranty.

Which, if its going to be the case, will be coverd by manufacture warranty and/or will be reported here, given the numbe of users. Extended warranties don't bring extra coverage to the existing manufacture warranty, unless you buy specific, like dents and wheel protection, for example.

But if people want peace of mind, let them spend hard earned money. I used to do the same thing, but after I never used those warranties, or they didn't cover parts requirung maintenance, I now put money into the bank.

Well, a case in point. Took my legacy in yesterday, cause the rear diff was 'wet' with oil for a while. They said the the air vent in the diff was a bit plugged, leading to a bit of excess pressure, probably resulting in an occasional mist of oil from the vent.
Somehow that itsn't covered by either Gold Plus or the powertrain warranty.

Has your vehicle been properly maintained? I'd assume that the service plans/powertrain warranty would still require you to have followed the required maintenance before they did anything.
