I'm a little confused about where you are coming from?

You seem angry at something and even that I can figure out.

You are a sen member of this forum, but seem to be someone that would never buy the car that this forum is about.

Just some questions. That's all.

im not mad. i just sound like that all the time. dont let the fact that i think it is overhyped be confused with the fact that i dont love the car. i think its a great car. that doesnt change the fact that its overhyped.

Lap time, I'm not sure yet, but it should be around the ballpark
try 9:09. i know this car isnt really about numbers (and i despise using nurburg as a metric) but people scoffing at the cobalt when it is that much faster just seems to be text book fanboyism

I liked the seats and sound system though. As long as you understand it is a GM product, you shouldn't be surprised by it's shoddy craftsmanship.
But yet the makers of the Echo 1 of the ugliests and worst cars ever produced are somehow superior? not to mention a huge lawsuit for having unsafe vehicles yeah thats quality. When their best RWD car isnt even in the same atmosphere as anything Chevy has RWD except the V6 camaro which its still slower than, and Subaru did all the production and heavy lifting and they havent made a sports car since the MR2 Spyder oh i forgot about the overpriced 400k LFA that gets trounced on by a GTR a car 1/4th of its price all from the company thats supposed to give us value and quality.Do i need to go on? Look the "Subaru twins" are great budget sports car very great infact, but all Kool Aid aint good Kool Aid....everytime somethings faster everyone reverts back to "this is only a fun car" but yet its supposed to do so many things better than everything else, but in reality it doesent, just value this car for being fun....after all going fast isnt important in a sports car right?

And yet somehow if a Cobalt owner hates on the BRZ, that is fine with you. I'm just saying people should have a little perspective before they go saying their Cobalt is better than the "overhyped" BRZ, because it has more hp and is faster around a track. That isn't really a valid way to compare cars. Drive them both, and then say which one you enjoyed more.
Your right it isnt a very valid way to compare "CARS" But its a tradition and a lifestyle to compare "SPORTS CARS" by this standard....you and others need to get real,or do we just need to make a new catagory and call it the "FUN CARS" I guess the twins and the Miata can own this segment since the FWD Mini,Abarth,Mazda 2,Honda Civic & Fit....would be unfairly disqualified by the lightweight low power RWD snobs and the Elise is to fast and expensive. 1 more thing are you absolutely sure its a more fun to drive car than the Miata? you know the car thats been around for 20+ years thats the best selling "Sports Car" of all time....

.......my point is this car is not so special that its exempt from getting compared to its peers past, present or future cars, and yes it does have peers because its not clearly superior to its rivals just different and its remarkable in many ways and not so much in a few.The bottom line is choices will be made because of these comparisons this is a fact of life in nearly every aspect in our human existence, and each car will have its pro's and cons...just a thought to you folks and fellow enthusiasts.

Yes a dealer wanted $15000 over. It is just supply and demand. If they made 50 Cobalt SS they would easily sell for more than msrp, does that mean its over hyped. No.
100% agreed...its a amazing car.

You mean, the huge lawsuit to bolster GM sales?

And is that 9:09 representative? Who drove it, was it an experienced rally driver, some journalist or maybe an owner scared he would crash his brand new car? For example, on Nordschleife the GT 86 is crushed by the Porsche Boxster (8:54, 15 seconds faster) while on Vairano, the GT 86 is actually more than 2 seconds faster.

I find it funny how on FT86club forum I have to read over and over again how, with all those so-much-better cars out there, it's insane to like the poor little GT 86/BRZ/FR-S.
This should be a forum for people who likes the twins.

nurburg times are never really representative of what a car can do. its a stupid metric people have fallen in love with since power is not cool anymore and people are all about handling.
people only really talk trash on the frs here when there are comparisons made (like this one) where frs fanboys are calling cobalt fanboys stupid for liking the much faster car
