It would be nice if someone bolted a revised manifold to an older 86 to see if it provides any improvement in power.

The car is still too new though. Give it a month or two.

Sounds like an expensive mod for no performance improvement. I do understand buying a Velox or something, but red lipstick on a manifold wont get my money.

I wonder what ITBs look like on a boxer.

The entire intake system has been redesigned, including the manifold to include better airflow going from a oval cross sectional area to a circular design that makes for a more efficient system. Its not just pretty red paint.

And oh.. the air filter, the valves, cam shaft, piston heads, engine block, fuel pump, exhaust manifold have all seen revisions

I saw a youtube video of the yellow series...the engineer said that they advertise 5hp, but its more like 15hp increase to put the engine where it should have been in the first place.

Definitely not 15 according to Toyota's marketing material. You see more torque in the mid-range and at the top, but HP gains are marginal - possibly offset by added weight. Unless their reported figures are conservative. But until we get actual dyno results from an owner... The red manifold does about as much as cheetah blood or flame stickers

Frankly, I'm kind of surprised they managed to only get about 5 hp and lb-ft torque out of it. I mean, a drop in filter alone usually adds around that and they improved not only the filter design but also the intake, exhaust, lowered friction, and optimized other things but yet.. minimal gains. You had one job Toyota/Subaru!

Oh well... at least it's something.

Saw the same video. What he was trying to say was it's only a 5bhp increase but a higher percentage of the cars power makes it to the wheels after all the revisions to help the car make power more efficiently. So essentially it should make around 15wheelhp more than the pre-facelift

Going to be fascinating to see what direction custom tuning will go with the MY17's.

Either an MY17 will make even more power (vs an MY16) due to all the detail changes or end up in the same range due to a more efficient drive train leaving less headroom for more gains.

On topic though. I like my current one as it looks a lot cleaner in the engine bay the way it is now.
