Some aftermarket head units can take a long time to boot up due to power being applied breifly to the head unit just before the engine starts to crank. This seems to confuse the firmware and eventually reboots. Hence the long delay.

Here is a link to a thread I started that could help those that might have this happening. It may not be a problem with all head units, just some.
