Not true actually, any accident reported on a Car Fax is enough to drop CPO eligibility...unless you're a shady used car department...

The used car scene has been price-inflated since the recession, and it's also the middle of tax return season. Couple that with hit-and-miss dealer ethics, and I wouldn't expect much positive to come from dealer used lot visits right now.

I have bought a bunch of CPO cars. The way you have to look at it is as a 1 year warranty more than anything else. They will fix what needs to be fixed but not until you request it. That's what I have found. They try to do as little as possible.

Key word there is reported! I guess shady comes into play as well. The inspection does not include a question "was the car smashed up?" so unless there was a Car Fax report it really isn't included in the inspection.

Correct. There is a bullet point for checking carfax but if it's clear it can be certified...bad way to do it but if you ask some of my techs they'd find evidence that any car may have been hit even if it never was...
