OK, so much for the red light. How many times y'all hit fuel cut off in moments of over exuberance?

Okay, that makes sense if he's only driving the car on a track. In traffic he'd never get out of second gear.

I don't think my shift indicator is set to any rpm, plz add to poll OP
Me neither that is why I say it is set to off. I don't need no stinking light to tell me where I am at. As I have said before when I teach the grandson to drive the car I will be covering the tach so he learns by sound and feel not by reading a gauge. Not like everybody drives the same way and needs to shift at exact revs all the time anyway.

If you read the whole break in procedure it says very specifically not to do the same things all the time. Supposed to vary the speed you drive, stay off of cruise and mix things up. Not sure if that applies to shifting as well though but I still shifted at varying revs at break in.

The motor has a 7450 redline but you can't access that so I put it at 7400.

If you listen to some people on here then every single time they shift! At least that is what they will tell you.

First lights at 5500, red lights at 7500.

Sequential FTW.

I was a little uncertain myself. I cant see the necessity of high 6k+ rpm needed to brake things in. What i do instead is how quickly I get to 60 in the rev range. variable driving style. I'm a grandpa in break in periods.

Given that there's probably a few dozen 86's autocrossing every single weekend, bouncing off the rev-limiter down the straight is better than shifting to third or worse lifting off the throttle, we'd know if there were serious issues with hitting the fuel cut multiple times.

I may be confused ........ but, as I thought I understood the question ...... I have the shift light set at 6,500, because it takes me a while to react and I don't like hitting the fuel cut off.

Yes, upon rare occasions, I have hit the fuel cut off ...... because I was having an exceptionally slow day .......
