If it's only 10% of your monthly income and you don't want to do it then it clearly doesn't mean that much to you? However, if you missed a zero that would make a lot more sense.

God damn I wish I had ANY allowance as a kid. 1800 is 10% of your allowance?!

But wow wtf, why does it cost $1800 for a bumper repair. Brand new unpainted OEM rear bumper is $270 straight from Subaru, cheaper if you look around. $1800 is insane...

I'd just go buy the new bumper and ask a random shop to paint it for me.

I have some damage to my bumpers from people that park by braille. One of these days I'll have some extra cash and will look around at salvage yards and if I'm lucky will find bumper covers in the right color. Until I have the money and it has nothing better to do I'm not gonna worry about it too much because it's bound to happen again anyway.

^^^^This, or get on the used parts exchange.

They seem to be going for $150 to $300 on car-part.com. In fact, there's a white one listed right now at MID Auto Dismantling in Wilmington, CA for $150. It says "NO INS QLTY" in the listing, so I'm not sure if that means it's also damaged. Since all three of that company's bumpers have that same designation, it may be that they list all their parts that way to avoid dealing with insurance repairs. It's also listed as just "white," so who knows if it will match.

If it were me, I'd give them a call. And if that one doesn't work, I'd leave it alone for now and keep an eye on car-part.com, Ebay and Craigslist for others.

That looks like a pull and respray. Probably a few hundred dollars. Instead of talking about it on the internet go get a quote from a decent bodyshop.

Your mistake was making your insurance deductible so high, its expensive for you to fix it.

Insurance companies love when people increase their deductibles because that means they are less likely to submit a claim.

Personally, I always try to set my deductible at $500 or less. My FRS is off insurance now.... has been on jack stands for a few months now while I install some upgrades. When I put it back on the road I will be going for a $500 or even $250 deductible.

hey OP, I faced same situation before with some asshole swiped and ran on the same side like you. I decided to park my car right outside my house and some guy hit it and ran. Luckily, a body shop that I knew re-painted my rear bumper for free. Try to get it painted somewhere, sorry if i'm not much of a help. I know how this feels and this sucks.
