This is easy. Do WHATEVER makes your soon-to-be-wife happy. End of story. Stay with her forever as husband and wife and care for your beautiful family. The joy you'll get from putting them first will make any ecstasy you may derive from driving even the most enthralling of automobiles seem like soggy raisin bran w/ curdled milk.

Having said that, I tend to side w/ the folks who question the immediate need for a minivan. That's an American thing (and yes, I'm an American). In Mexico, having a second kid means there's still room for another bag or two of groceries and the family dog on the scooter when you take the whole family out. We raised three sons and eventually DID go the way of a Ford Aerostar then onto an SUV or two (MISTAKE.. my tiny wife discovered she loves big ol' SUVs and that's all she'll drive now... sigh...), but also had Nissan Sentras, a Dodge Colt E, and other econoboxes back in the ...umm... financially challenging eras. We always got by, and we always had fun.

OH, BTW.. best family car of all time? The Dodge (or was it Plymouth)(OK.. REALLY it was a Mitsubishi) Colt Vista. The original MICRO van. Three rows of seats, great gas mileage, cheap to buy, own, and drive, reliable, and just fun, and all built into a size smaller than the typical Subaru Outback. LOVED that car.

http://www.carlustblog.com/2007/09/dodge-colt-vist.html

Good thing they only made it a few years. Why does that happen EVERY time I find a car I like? They either discontinue it (the Colt Vista) or ruin it (the e36 BMW 3 series, the '93-'95 Range Rover County LWB).

Best wishes.. enjoy your family, and I hope you have a wonderful marriage.

Barry

Lots of good advice here! I will only add that if you tempted to buy a two door, don't. You will regret it every time you have to put the kid in the back seat.

I have a suggestion that may seem odd to some, but you might consider the Ford C-Max. Plenty of room, it has a hatchback, great fuel economy and believe it or not, decent power. We've had one for two years and nada problems.

Only thing is, since it's a hybrid, you can't really trick out the exhaust.

Seriously. What the fuck dude, don't suggest asking that. A car choice is never more important than your first born. Plan for the kid(/s) and hope for the best, don't bank on something like that so you can keep a coupe.🙄👎🏽

IS300 Sportcross? Lancer Sport back? I dislike the SUV craze, so I'd really go with a good hatchback or station wagon.

Research says the FR-S will baby.

If you aren't planning on having a second child right away, you could easily get a couple years out of the FR-S before it became an issue (I'm assuming it's also not your only vehicle between the two of you).

You're going to take a hit on the FR-S no matter what, but you're taking the biggest hit in the first year. It'd need to be a helluva discount on the next ride. From a fiscal standpoint, taking on a higher payment isn't necessarily the best idea.

Key point bolded.

If any of you folks think that your FR-S/BRZ will be OK to transport a baby/toddler ....... I suggest you think again.

To test this idea, pretend that you have a rear facing child seat in the back of your car. Now, either the passenger or the driver, while seated, try to turn around and stick a pacifier into the mouth of the make believe baby. .....

Hurts ......don't it .....??

However, when they get a bit bigger and become somewhat self sufficient, they will be happy kids (for short distances). You just need to practice your "over the shoulder" toss of tissues and crackers.

Agreed!!!! However there is that inbetween phase where they go from the rear facing car seat to forward facing where there legs aren't long enough to get under the forward seats and its just as uncomfortable....manageable but uncomfortable.

hehe I wouldn't recommend a pregnant 'tall-ish' or any pregnant lady...tbh to sit in a twin. Too low not healthy and too uncomfy to get in/out.

Evo x/end thread. New mistubishis are just as reliable as most other cars. Used ones just happen to be beaten to shit more often than not giving them a bad rep.

Since you both wanted a Evo, I say EVO. 4 door and good amount of power and AWD. Rather have one that I wanted then regret not getting it. Also congrats on the addition!
