Honda doesn't have to do anything, just because Toyota/Subaru released the FT86 doesn't mean that every other manufacturer has to bring out a sporty cheap RWD car. The impact on sales that this car has is so small that I don't think anyone but the consumers will notice it.

Numbers make sense given low availability of the BRZ. FR-S appears to be better inventoried, but I wonder why? Aren't the twins built in the same factory, or is that incorrect?

The numbers in the first post are US sales. The 370Z has never sold that many units in a year, and it's not a given that Nissan will sell half that number this year. The 350Z did sell over 18k per year, but of course US sports car sales have significantly decreased since the US housing bubble collapse.

Subaru of America seems to be carrying through on the plan of a limited allocation through November.

I want the FR-S and BRZ twins to be limited really .. I can understand the fear or them dieing off quickly .. but honestly I hate the idea of driving the same car on the roads

I don't mind this car being as popular as the Mustangs if that means that prices drop and aftermarket and enthusiast community grows.
I just don't want the image of the FRS/BRZ drivers to be as tarnished as that of a Mustang. God, I hate stang drivers. Old women and ****heads. |

By comparison, between 1991 and 1997, Subaru sold slightly less than 14,000 of the Subaru SVX....that's limited production.
Judging by the interest people show when they see this car on the street, I have a feeling this will be the most common Subaru of any I've owned by the end of next year --- especially given the numbers of the Scion version being sold. |

ive only seen a few FR-S' and 1 BRZ. several friends dont know what it is yet. i feel that people who dont know about the car by now dont care about the "performance" of this car(or any car for that matter). i think more of these people wil be buying them in a few months when they see them driving around and think they look good. sales should rise through november

There was always an agreement that the FR-S would outnumber 3:1 since it was Toyota's idea and they put up all the money for it.
