Then, when I told him about the dispute, he wanted my bank's information - which I refused, stating that his merchant account should have that information already, and that our business is concluded.

Is it me, or is that rather shady?

It's super shady. He told me that he got a letter from my bank 2 months after I called them to file the dispute. He only wants you to remove the dispute because according to him, they charge him $35 every time someone files a dispute with the bank against him.

I too have fallin into this clowns scam. I paid for the helix side markers from him and he gave me the shipping tracking number the next day. I am OVER a week since I ordered from him and even with numerous emails to him, not one of them was or is replied.

Will go down to my bank tomorrow with a printed order receipt.

Shame on me for not getting the OEM side markers.

This is my tracking info he sent me:

This made the whole concept of a paying sponsor obsolete, as the administrative costs of the website was offset by the paying members.

And for a small fee each year, I'd rather pay money directly to the site for the information received in return, rather than paying money indirectly to sponsors who support the site, who may or may not be shady.

Just my two cents.

You wouldn't be referring to MSF would you? Best overall forum I've ever been apart of, ruthless towards scammers whether they pay them to be a sponsor or not. Ruthless is an understatement actually. I never had a doubt buying things from the classifieds there.

Nah... www.g20.net

The best part of this system is, for $24 a year, members can support the site all they want. Moderators also have a special "how-to" DIY section that has really good articles moved there for "sponsor viewing only".

Similar to REI's co-op system, the more you put into the site, the more you get back. I don't know how much vendors pay to advertise on the site, but imagine if 10% of the overall membership paid $24 a year ($2/month). That's $122k on an annual basis...

Even if only 5% paid, that's more than enough money to offset hosting fees, and there wouldn't be any of this vendor drama.

Vendor drama would still exist, the site just wouldn't be accused of protecting them.

I don't think I've seen any vendor bias. The mods seem pretty fair.

Vendor drama would always exist, however there would be more of a communal benefit for members, and less of a "pay to play" structure that currently exists.

If I was the owner of the site and was looking to offset my hosting/traffic costs, you have to monetize the available space on the site and sell sponsorship to any vendor willing to pay. I fully understand not everyone can play nice, I'm just suggesting something different.
