Reviving this thread, why didn't anybody point out that Subaru also painted the calipers of BRZ Blue series. See the pictures below?
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66895 Am I wrong? They look like the stock calipers painted in red to me. |

Not true on these cars, the rear piston pushes straight in. The calipers with pistons that rotate as they extend/retract are on cars that use the main caliper for the e-brake. These cars have a drum inside the disc for the e-brake.

Nothing wrong with painting the OEM sliding pin calipers; done right, it looks clean. On the other hand, if you then put a 'Brembo' sticker on it...

I agree with the general consensus, nothing wrong with painting the OE sliding caliper, but the enthusiast community will probably frown upon 'exuberant' colors like red or yellow.
Do as The Rolling Stones advised and Paint it Black. |

I've always liked black painted calipers. Helps the wheels and rotors stand out...instead of reminding you that you don't have a BBK :'(

I assumed the owner did it because I didn't think the manufacturer would do anything that cheezy. |

I have a hard enough time just getting around to my wheels when I wash my car. I honestly think, in my case, I would regret bringing attention to my calipers because then it becomes another thing to have to keep at with a toothbrush. I'm just not that dedicated.
