Watching vids from Sebring and AMP just now it did it almost all the time at AMP, but that's a lot of gentle braking to get weight back up front, but even under heavy braking it seemed to do it there. I had just switched from S100s to C300s with no extra bed in there though. At Sebring after a full bed in on the street from 70-5 until they were smoking a lot, repeatedly they were much quieter and mostly just made noise on application/release and light pressure. Vids are on youtube if you want to compare noise to yours. daveror channel.

Luckily I bought S100s at the same time. The S100s make noise also, but I'm not sure if it's by design (maybe all the AP performance pads make some noise) or if it just can scrub off all the C300 compound though They are livable at least, the C300s simply aren't usable on the street beyond driving to the track and back home.

I had Carbotech XP10/XP8 combo on my 350Z and loved them on the track. On the street they were dusty and squeeled like a pig. But apparently the dust is safe for all wheel types (which I can attest to as I left my Volks (aluminum barrel) with brake dust on for a few months).

Brake Pad Manufacturer (F/R): Stoptech street performance
Caliper (F/R): OEM Rotor Size (F/R - IE OEM or specify): OEM Compound (F/R): street/autox/track Tires: 235/35/18 BF Goodrich GForce T/A Feedback: First track day was with Stoptech Street performance pads front and rear. The pads were nice to my OEM rotors, they transferred somewhat evenly and they took a decent pounding after bedding properly. Also had OEM fluid in the car and I don't think I boiled it. Probably came close, but with the right amount of modulation and trail braking into corners I managed to keep everything under control temp wise. Also they seem to be wearing well. I can't see the pad backing plate through the inspection hole yet, but it wasn't that much track time at 7 or 8 tenths driving. Scores: Dusting (1=high-10=low): 5 Cold bite (1=low-10=high): 10 Hot bite (1=low-10=high): 7 Modulation (1=low-10=high): 7 Noise (1=extremely loud-10=quiet): 10 Pad Lifespan (1=short-10=long): (estimate/actual) not sure probably 4/5 if I track them a lot Does the brake dust with this combination damage the wheels/paint if not cleaned immediately? (Y/N) No Brake ducts: (Y/N) No

I have Carbotech XP10s, XP8s, and RP2s and they all make crazy loud screeching noise! And I had them pre-bedded by Carbotech themselves to save me the hassle at the track and not waste any time. So I disagree I guess?

They sound like a subway train coming to a stop when I'm just lightly braking that last few mph on the street. Like crawling up to a stop sign or pulling into your garage.
When hot and on the track they're 100% silent. I'm just talking about street driving when they're (mostly) cold. Mike says they're suitable for street driving because they're quiet but when on my car they're loud enough to scare the crap out of inattentive pedestrians. I literally made a girl jump into the air once (accidentally) when she heard my brakes squealing.

I drove the XP10/XP8 combo on the street for about 5,000 miles. Did you have some other track pads on the same rotors previously? Just trying to figure out any differences.

Personally, I've never bought the pre-bedded pads, and I don't recommend it to anyone either; you can bed them in fine at the track, and unlike some other pads, you certainly won't lose a session bedding them in. |
